Happy 85th birthday to my dad, Dave Komaromi — our family’s “tire man.”

He is a huge reason I chose to work for myself. Fiercely independent, he owned Tires To Go in West Sacramento with my mom for more than 35 years and was the third generation of our family to work in the tire business.

He taught me perseverance, self-reliance, and the value of showing up and working hard, even when things are difficult. Most of all, he showed me that building a business takes patience, resilience, and a real commitment to the people you serve.

He also came up with the name Well Grounded. After considering countless ideas for the café, we chose his suggestion because he said Kevin and I were “well-grounded people.”

Happy birthday, Dad. I’m so grateful for your example and everything you’ve taught me. ❤️

Join us for National Night Out on Tuesday, August 4, from 5:30–7:30pm at Norvell and Stockton!

Well Grounded and Jenny K will be serving free BBQ, and neighbors are welcome to bring a dish to share. Come meet your neighbors, connect with the El Cerrito Police Department, and celebrate our community.

We also have plenty more happening in August:

The El Cerrito Parks Challenge grand prize winner will be announced at National Night Out. There is still time to visit all 13 parks and submit your photos!

August 6: Local Maker Night with local artists, and food from Curbside Kitchen.

August 13: End-of-Summer Ice Cream Social and Kid Entrepreneurs Night.
