Four generations of BBQ goodness perfectly situated right here in Elgin!

Fun Fact Friday

After Buddy Meyer’s passing in 1989, his sons Gregg and Gary Meyer proudly became the fourth generation to continue the family’s long tradition of sausage making. Together, they helped grow the business through multiple expansions, modernization efforts, and the development of new products while staying true to the recipes and quality that built the Meyer name.

In 1998, Gregg and Gary, along with their wives Denise and Becky Meyer, purchased Bigger’s BBQ and opened what is now known as Meyer's Elgin Smokehouse. Guests quickly fell in love with the family recipes, from Buddy Meyer’s famous beans and Hermina’s signature BBQ sauce to the slow-smoked meats seasoned with Meyer’s legendary spices.

Over the past 27 years, Meyer's Elgin Smokehouse has continued to grow, expanding the restaurant nine different times while remaining committed to serving authentic Texas barbecue and family tradition to every customer who walks through the doors.
