Sitting on 2 acres of prime freeway frontage, we just love to see heads turn our way while driving down the freeway! Our garden is filled with a huge pottery selection that you can see from the freeway and so much more that you can't. We have the best succulent and cacti selection in the area and our gift shop is full of houseplants and garden gifts.

Have you ever paid attention to the mural in our water garden area? Like all things at the nursery, our mural has a story…

I’ve been lucky enough to see the “Mosaïcultures Internationales” exhibits on tour both in Montréal and in Ottawa. It’s a world class exhibit of giant topiary installations that defy gravity. One of my favorites is the Mother Earth installation shown here on a trip to Ottawa back in 2017.

In February 2018 we organized a FUNdraiser for Saint John's Program For Real Change and as part of the live entertainment, we commissioned a mural. How do you find a muralist you ask? Turns out a friend’s daughter was a freelance theater set artist and was excited to be a part of our event. It was so exciting to watch the idea go from concept to completion! And now we have a piece of this talented young artist’s work on our building to enjoy every day. Check out Macy Rose Martinez

Cotelydon pendens is such a fantastic succulent for hanging baskets and containers. Can handle lots of shade, blooms multiple times each year and makes such a statement! Come add this one to your collection, we have them in stock but they won’t last long! 🏃🏽‍♀️

Welcome to another episode of where we take you to a particular project, or behind the scenes moment, since opening our small business in 2002.

Today let’s talk about our cactus zone and the small greenhouse in particular. Originally the greenhouse was at our residence and used for personal projects. Then in 2017 it was recruited into the family business 😉 and rebuilt at The Secret Garden to be used for our tropical and houseplant selection. As that division grew so did our need for a larger greenhouse, so in 2021 the “little” greenhouse took a walk to its current location to become the cactus greenhouse. 🌵💚 Then at the same time, we turned a pallet of cinder blocks into the area we affectionately call the “cactus walk” as a permanent display area for our larger cactus specimens.

This area is currently a favorite spot for selfies and exploration. (Cue the adorable grandchild!😉) Another reminder that when you shop locally owned small businesses you are indeed supporting a local family and not a corporate board of directors somewhere!
