We just moved our last bunch of chicks OUT OF THE LIVING ROOM!! This is a first since late Winter.... No bird babies in the house!!!
The plan is for our guinea keets to go straight outside to big brooders and bypass my front room 🤣

This means I can FINALLY get back my sewing station!! I had my big machine serviced a couple weeks ago and have patterns and templates piled all over the table to get started! I just gotta make an after dark trip to storage to root through the ancient archives of fabric to find a few supplies....

🥵Y'all. It's too hot to do anything in normal daylight hours right now. So, hopefully the evenings start acting right so I can catch a little break.

PS 👀I know the 2 of you that are gonna see this and call in orders for Christmas inventory..... I'm ready! Check your email!

Hedy & Jim Buck are perfectly content lazing inside the house today. All the doggos tried outside a few minutes ago. It didn't take long for them to come scootin' back in to the air conditioning 🤣

Ya'll keep cool if ya gotta be outside! And keep a check on your birds and outside critters! We've rewatered several times today and had to move shades around out at Rooster Town. It's pretty warm outside! Don't forget your elderly or disabled fam, frenz and neighbors! Heat can be dangerous for the more vulnerable so let's do what we can to help each other thru this disgusting nonsense.

On a side note... Let's see all you Winter Hating Heat Loving Folks out there soaking it up. It's your time to shine, weirdos!

🔥🔥🔥IT'S FRIDAY and it's Hottern' the hinges of Hades outside! 🥵🥵🥵

Refilling waterers and pools was not fun at noon but the birds were super pumped and had a big splash party 🤣

📷If you're waiting on bird pics to accompany our Lawrenceburg Swap load list... It's definitely gonna be much later in the evening before I even attempt hunting chickens out there. I'll just wait til they come to roost.

💥But YES! We plan on attending the swap in Lawrenceburg tomorrow!! I'm doing my very best to impress upon Mr Murphy the need to leave earlier so we don't have to battle that heat after 11AM. But- I'll DEFINITELY UPDATE HERE ON THE PAGE IN THE MORNING WITH AN APPROXIMATE ETA!!!

There's too many here to bring everybody and we're literally just holding out for a cooler morning to send most of these quack heads to Camp Whirlpool. Not even measuring the extras by dozens at this point....

We have about a gallon of Corturnix and Button eggs extra as of Wednesday night. All our groups are now laying except the very last bunch that are only 3-4 weeks old. So if you'd like some to eat or hatch, we have plenty! If you'd prefer a container of pickled, smoked or smoked&pickled quail eggs- let us know ASAP as we'll have to prepare those fresh!

If you need live birds- we can probably spare some males at this time. There's some pretty ones in this bunch! And these are a great alternate protein source for humans & pets!

We're still unsure of our weekend plans and whether we'll be out at any swaps or not, but if you want or need quail or eggs- reach out and we can set up a driveway pickup time or possibly meet in Campbellsville...if we end up having to go out.

This weather is really pushing them along-- so I got these broke up and stored in the fridge so we can grab some of their vine buddies the next day or two and add to the mess.

I planted these mostly out of curiosity and for the novelty if having super long beans...but I wish I would've had room to plant a whole lot more. Hopefully, we have a longer trellis area next year because it's for sure the best way to grow beans, tomatoes, cucumbers and really anything that vines very much.

I finally have more Teenie We**ie ladies!!! I'm super hopeful to set up 2 separate breeding pens because I actually have new boys, too!

Anddddd.... because I'm an absolute glutton for extra work- I also have some new Silk Cochin Bantams!! Anybody wanna guess the variety/colors I'll be working on with those??? (If Bryson doesn't lay claim to them)

I might have brought home more mille calico girls, too but can anybody really have enough bantam cochins? I mean, really????

I've come to the conclusion that downsizing just means you have a very best friend who makes room to take on bird boarders and when you get overwhelmed or frustrated, you just send birds to that friend while you get your bearings and then just load up again. It's the unending cycle of BFF birds. I don't make the rules. It's just how it works 🤣
