Somebody in every house is already reaching for that dial, and somebody else is standing in front of it.
I'm with the second one. These are the mornings you can fix with wool socks and a second cup of coffee, and the afternoons still warm the house back up on their own. Once the furnace starts, it runs until spring, and the bill comes with it.
My own rule is not before October, and not while a sweater still does the job. Whoever gets up first puts the kettle on. That's about all it takes this time of year.
If anyone in the house is very old, very little or sick, none of that applies. Warm the house.
South of the equator, you're just switching yours off. Enjoy it.
