Welcome folks! 🍽️📚 This week we’ll be serving new fiction, nonfiction, memoirs, and kids books we recommend without any hesitation.

Chef Matthew is delighted to present — fresh this week in paperback — “I See You’ve Called in Dead,” one of his favorite reads from last summer. A hilarious and moving tale about a Brooklyn obituary writer who accidentally publishes his own obituary in the middle of a midlife crisis. It’s a story about reckoning with the past, the possibility of change, and the enormous value of our encounters with one another. Also, an excellent summer read!☀️

🧾✨ Stop in and let us serve you something good 😊

Say hello to the most inquisitive, polite, well-read, princess-loving, Cat in the Hat-reading, dragon-obsessed kiddos from Ellenville Elementary School. What an absolute delight it was hosting them on their class trip to our bookshop ✨📚

A huge thank you to Ms. Budd and Mrs. Hanington for bringing their wonderful students by. The kids asked such thoughtful questions and were treated to a reading by the incomparable Mrs. T — Ms. Budd’s own elementary school teacher, which made the visit feel extra special.

And the cherry on top? An absolutely epic dance party (Golden and Ordinary if you must know) 💃📚

Told you we were working on our restock 💪📦 Some great new fiction and non fiction arrived at the shop this week. Matthew is spotlighting “Ghost Town,” the latest from Tom Perrotta:

“Grief and humor walk side by side in this compelling coming-of-age reminiscence. A summer unfolds in the wake of 13-year-old Jimmy’s mother’s death in suburban New Jersey. A summer complete with awkward defining adolescent hook ups; car rides down the shore with the local pastor; and sitting shotgun in a shady older buddies car smoking w**d as other forgettable, regrettable, and yet somehow impactful small moments tentatively usher him into an adult world he knows nothing about but beckons so near.

All this as he tries to come to terms with the awful culminating events of that summer. Ultimately of “the way we’re abandoned and never left alone.”
