The Hawaiian Hoosier is looking for an Assistant Manager to join our team.

If you have restaurant experience, love great customer service, and want to learn how to help run a restaurant, we’d love to hear from you. This role is about more than working a shift. It’s an opportunity to help create our little island escape right here in Indiana while learning scheduling, inventory, operations, catering, and more.

Tues – Sat | Approx. 32 hours per week
Paid Time Off during Winter Break

🏠🍍 WE’RE RAISING THE ROOF! 🍍🏠

And no, Hala didn’t throw a party that got that out of hand. 😂

This week, Hala and his buddies at Phase Construction are putting a brand-new roof on The Hawaiian Hoosier. Apparently Hala offered to help with the heavy lifting. 💪🍍

Here’s the important part: WE’RE STILL OPEN! 🌺

And since new roofs are roughly the opposite of cheap, this is a GREAT week to suddenly develop an uncontrollable craving for Chicken Katsu, Kalua Pork, musubi, mochi... you get the idea. 😉

Hala is working with his buddies at Next Phase Construction and Cleaning Services to put a brand-new roof on The Hawaiian Hoosier! 🏠🌺

And, well... new roofs aren’t cheap. 😅 So while the hammers are swinging overhead, we’d LOVE your support. We’re still OPEN during construction, serving up all your Hawaiian Hoosier favorites!

🌺 Sunday Tip: What is Manapua?

Manapua is Hawaiʻi’s delicious take on the Chinese char siu bao. Traditionally, it is a soft bun filled with sweet and savory barbecue pork, then steamed until fluffy or baked until golden brown.

In Hawaiʻi, manapua shops are beloved neighborhood stops filled with quick, comforting local favorites. Today, you can find manapua stuffed with everything from traditional char siu pork to kalua pork, teriyaki chicken, curry, Portuguese sausage, sweet potato, and even sweet fillings!

While The Hawaiian Hoosier does not currently have traditional manapua on the menu, our sliders are inspired by that same comforting experience. We fill soft, steamed bao buns with flavorful favorites that give you a delicious taste of the islands right here in Ellettsville.

Next time you're in Hawaii, look for a local Manapua shop to try these tasty snacks.
