Workshops. Open craft time. Meetups. New things to make. New things to buy. And, for the first time, an actual full-month RBP calendar so you can see what the hell is happening before it happens.

There’s a lot going on over here, so consider this your September “put something fun on the calendar” reminder.

SEPTEMBER AT THE RBP
The full September calendar is officially up.

This is the first time I’ve put the whole month out at once, which means you can actually plan ahead for Craft & Yap open studio time instead of waiting for me to announce hours week by week.

Bring your own project and use the space, raid the RBP craft stash, come with a friend, come by yourself, finish the thing that has been sitting half-done in your house for six months — whatever.

And, of course, the calendar is also packed with workshops, meetups and other reasons to leave your house and make something.

Check the calendar, claim your workshop spots, and plan your Craft & Yap time now.

AND: YOU CAN SHOP THE RBP ONLINE NOW
You asked. I finally did it.

The RBP online shop is live.

For now, you’ll find RBP merch and some of the retail goodies you can normally grab in the shop.

The handmade one-off pieces aren’t online yet because, frankly, I am not currently interested in creating a second full-time job for myself updating inventory every time one weird little handmade thing finds its person.

Maybe eventually.

For now: RBP stuff + retail stuff = online.

Choose free pickup at The RBP or $5 flat-rate shipping.

ALSO, THIS HAPPENED
VoyageBaltimore recently asked me to talk about The RBP — how it started, what I’m trying to build here, the uncertainty that pushed me into doing it in the first place, and the somewhat chaotic process of figuring it all out as I go.

It still feels a little surreal that people want to talk to me about my “vision” when so much of that vision has been “well, let’s try this and see what happens.”

But people keep showing up.

And that part is pretty cool.

COME MAKE SOMETHING

There are a whole bunch of reasons to get yourself to The RBP this month, whether you want someone to teach you something new or you just need a couple hours to sit at a table, work with your hands and talk to other humans.

Grab a workshop. Come Craft & Yap. Bring somebody who keeps saying they want to come. Or come alone — you absolutely do not need to bring a built-in buddy to belong here.

The RBP has only been open a few months, and I am very much learning as I go — figuring out what works, trying new things, changing things when they don’t, and occasionally building the plane while flying it.

So, genuinely: thank you for your patience while I figure this thing out, and thank you for being here while I do. Every class you sign up for, friend you bring, post you share, afternoon you spend crafting here, and weird idea you enthusiastically say yes to is helping turn The RBP into the place I hoped it could be.

Still figuring it out. Still making things. Still building community.

Make things. Build community. Give a damn.

Amanda

Come tuck around and find out.

Introducing Tuck Everlasting: Kinusaiga Quilt Art — quilting for those of us who do not necessarily want to, you know, quilt.

Thursday, October 8 | 7–9:30 PM | $45

Choose from six quilt-block-style patterns, mix and match fabrics, and create a colorful, dimensional design on a 6” foam block using the Japanese art of kinusaiga.

The magic? Not a single stitch required.

And because unfinished projects already have enough places to live, we’re finishing this one. Your finished piece goes into an included 8” wood frame so it can go straight from The RBP to your wall.

Foam block and frame included. All fabric, tools, and supplies included. No sewing required. No experience needed.

No clue what kinusaiga was before this post? Welcome.

Come tuck around and find out.

Because apparently we’re coping with the state of the world using rhinestones now.

MAKE IT FU***NG CUTE: SET THE BONE EDITION

The MIFC philosophy is simple: life is already hard enough. Your everyday s**t might as well be cute.

This time, we’re taking that philosophy somewhere a little more literary.

Local poet Jillian Stacia, author of Set the Bone, is joining us for an evening of poetry, conversation, righteous rage, and an unreasonable amount of rhinestones.

While we bedazzle our own copies of Set the Bone, Jillian will read selected poems and talk about politics, rage, writing, and turning gestures broadly at the world into art.

Not a traditional book club. No assigned reading. Your copy of the book is included.

We’ll provide the book + all the shiny nonsense. You bring your opinions.

OCTOBER 7 | 7–9 PM | $50
Book + all supplies included.

Come angry. Leave sparkly.

SOOOO THE RBP IS IN VOYAGE BALTIMORE.

They interviewed me about how this weird little idea became a real place, why creating community matters so damn much to me, and all the chaos that comes with building something from scratch.

Four months in, still making it up as I go, and really fu***ng proud of what’s happening inside those four walls.

Make things. Build community. Give a damn.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Harman. Hi Amanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today? For most of my adult life, my career looked completely different: I...

📣 A schedule update for the rest of this week:

The RBP will be CLOSED Thursday, Friday & Saturday.

That means:
• Thursday open hours + Okay But Look at This are canceled
• Friday open hours are canceled
• Friday’s Make It F*cking Cute: Pill It Together is being rescheduled — registered attendees, please check your email
• Saturday, which was still TBD on the September calendar, will also be closed

Our 14-year-old black lab, Eloise, has gone downhill very quickly, and we’ve made the incredibly hard decision that we’ll be saying goodbye to her this weekend.

It’s also the second week of school for my kids and the second week of my new job, and my brain was already being split in approximately 47 directions before this.

So I’m clearing a few things off the calendar. I need to be home with Eloise, be present with my kids as we prepare for some really big feelings and a really hard goodbye, and give myself permission to not also try to keep the shop running through it.

Thank you for understanding the last-minute changes and for giving us a little grace this week.

Overgrown woodland witch fairy? Obviously.
Tiny maximalist fairy with questionable decorating decisions? PLEASE.

No experience needed. Everything is provided, and you’ll head home with your very own fairy house.

✨ Saturday, September 19 | 6–9 PM
✨ $65/person
✨ Adults 21+
✨ The Resting Bitch Place | Ellicott City

First ever FULL MONTH RBP CALENDAR has entered the chat.

September is PACKED. Workshops, meetups, open hours, community events, plenty of opportunities to make something weird/cute/unhinged, and strategically placed CLOSED signs so I can continue being a functioning human person.

There are still two TBD days waiting on final details, so somehow there’s even more coming. 👀

A few reminders:
OPEN hours = come hang! BYOP (bring your own project) is free, or raid the Craft Stash for $15/hour.

Meetups + workshops are sprinkled throughout the month — check the website for full details, tickets, and registration.

The calendar is the big-picture plan, but keep an eye on socials + the What’s Coming Up page for any changes/additions.

And don’t forget: you can book The RBP for your own thing. Birthdays, craft nights, friend hangs, team events, book clubs, showers, “we just need somewhere to sit around a table and make s**t” nights — whatever your little heart desires.

September, we are DOING THINGS.

Make things. Build community. Give a damn.

08/30/2026

A whole crew of Fern & Folk ghosts rolled into The RBP and somehow every single one came out with its own personality.

Cute ghosts. Spooky ghosts. Sparkly little guys. Absolutely no notes.

Thanks to everyone who came out to paint, make a mess, and kick off spooky season with us.

All aboard the Haunt Mess Express. 🚂👻

A little end-of-August programming note while I get my s**t together for September.

Sunday 8/30 — CLOSED
Monday 8/31 — OPEN 6–9 PM

And then… we’re trying something new.

September will be the first month I’m posting the ENTIRE month’s calendar at once — open hours, meetups, workshops, all of it — so you can actually plan ahead instead of finding out what I’m doing approximately 11 minutes before I do it.

I’m putting the finishing touches on everything now and the full September calendar is coming soon.

Look at us. Planning ahead. Growth. 💅
