You are NEVER too young (or to old😏) to give back to your community with volunteering. Lily has volunteered here for some time now and many days her daughter stops in. Shes learned to unload the bags and help mom sort. Children learn by example and we can’t wait to see the difference she will make in the years to come❤️

Edit: Well, thought everyone knew this, but we are a volunteer run thrift store! The real reward is knowing you are giving back to an amazing cause and helping make a difference in the life of children in our community. 🪴

Stop by and schedule a day to shadow one of our current register shifts and see if you would like to help! This would be a great thing to do as a homeschool family! Grab a friend and you can both run a register on the same shift! Let us know if you have any questions!

Dear Ellijay,
Please do better! This is what I just saw in the Food Lion parking lot. You have SEVERAL amazing thrift stores that give back to our community you can donate to. I know we all have different hours, sometimes we may be full and not able to take that day, but this will all go in the garbage. The company that picks up here should not have to clean up after our community. I’ve had 3 families just this week asking me for an infant car seat and there one sits. You should value what you have to donate more than this.

FHC Donation Hours: Mon-Friday 9:00-3:00, Saturday 9:00-1:00 (check their Facebook for early closures if necessary)

Roots donations: Wednesday-Saturday 10:00-3:00 (closed Saturday of Bag Sale)

Charity Starts at home-check during business hours Tuesday-Saturday 9:00-4:00

*I am fully aware that people dig through this and make more of a mess. If the bags and items donated were completely in the drop box they would not accessible. These items were clearly not in the donation box.

Today is another day to never forget. 9/12/01 when we had the pride of being an American, the willingness to volunteer to fight for our freedom, the respect, honor and trust in our first responders, the flags proudly flying, and the churches full praying for our nation. 9/12/01 we became a nation proud and prayerful. We shouldn’t forget those days following the day that changed our country forever when we as a country changed.

Pray for our family here at ROOTS.

We are a family. It has been said a hundred times. We laugh together, we cry together, but now we are carrying heavy burdens together.

It is often said that “God won’t give you more than you can handle”. That’s just not true (or scriptural). We absolutely face things we cannot handle. Things we could never handle without Jesus.

Our family of volunteers are dealing with situations where all we can do is trust the Lord and lean on each other. We are facing unknown health issues, family struggles, spouses having health issues, surgeries and just heaviness of this broken world.

BUT God is good. All the time.

Now more than ever when we face these moments of unknowns and the weight of this world it is driving us straight to Jesus. He is healer, our hope, and our source of strength. When things are good we praise Him, when things are hard we praise Him. In every situation He is worthy of our praise.
