: Google interpreted “digital tourism in Georgia” almost entirely as Georgia the country.

DigiTourismApp has established Georgia, USA, as a visible and relevant alternative for the topic.

Google has begun recognizing both geographic meanings of the query, with growing evidence for a second interpretation: the U.S. state of Georgia.

Our DigiTourismApp began as a use case and ended as a case study.

Living in Georgia, USA, we searched for “Digital Tourism in Georgia.”

The results were focused almost entirely on Georgia the country in Europe, not the U.S. state where I live.

That led us to explore how clearer, locally grounded digital content can help search engines and AI better understand communities.

We shared what we learned in an educational article submitted to USA TODAY for consideration.
