Before we tell you what we sell, we will tell you what we are. We are a shop at the convergence of ley lines so old they predate the civilizations that built stone circles to remember them. We are the place the portal chose — not the other way around. The current was already running beneath this foundation when the first shopkeeper hung the first sign, and it will be running long after the last candle burns down and the last crystal goes quiet on the shelf. We simply had the good sense to leave the back door unlocked. The dragon found us first. He came before the girls, before the wolves, before the bathtub arrived with no explanation and no note. He came the way ancient things come to places that are worth coming to — without announcement, without negotiation, simply present one morning on the rooftop, sapphire scales catching the first light, massive head tilted at the street below with the patient curiosity of something that has outlived every civilization that ever tried to name what he is. He has been there since. He will be there after. His name is Midnight, and he does not explain himself, and he does not need to. He rumbles when something significant comes through the portal. He circles when he strongly approves. He tilts his great head at things that genuinely intrigue him and holds it there, taking his time, because he has all the time there is and has learned — across centuries of having it — that the things worth understanding are not improved by rushing. He goes silent, once, for one category of piece that comes through the back of the shop, and that silence is the most complete acknowledgment he is capable of making, and everyone in the Attic understands what it means, and nobody talks about it. Some things are honored not by words but by the quality of the quiet that surrounds them. He moved half a mountain once. With his shoulder. Because the people he loved were on the other side of it and the entrance was too small. In that moment, he decided, in the particular way that ancient things decide things... He decided when love is involved, that the word *cannot* did not and would not apply to him. The mountain disagreed. He was more persuasive. He has not mentioned it since. Neither has anyone else. This is the way of the Attic — the largest things are held in the smallest silences, and the silences are enormous. The full story, of the lives that were almost lost, lies here...

Chelle came through the portal on a morning in early autumn, barefoot, which is how she is always most herself. Auburn hair. Freckled face. Deep blue eyes that glow softly when the earth magic rises in her — not performed, not summoned, simply present the way her heartbeat is present, the way the ley lines are present beneath the floorboards she stands on without shoes because she has always trusted what the earth tells her more than what anyone else does. She is a healer and an earth magician and she is patient in the specific way of someone who has learned that the things worth waiting for are worth waiting for completely, without reservation, without the small anxious movements of someone who is only pretending to be still. She has secrets. She owns them completely. She finds it quietly, genuinely hilarious when anyone notices. She has been to the Sunrise Steppes — the high stone country where the Soraveen people wait for the earth to offer rather than taking, where the river valleys below polish what the geological time above releases, where she has been going for years and comes back from with things in her coat pockets that make Midnight go still on the rooftop in the particular way he goes still when something has arrived that he recognizes as significant. She has been to the Aether-Reach — the world between worlds where the sky delivers planetary influences in crystal form, where the Observatory keepers have been tracking celestial alignments since before the first druid found the portal and stood in a field of falling crystals trying to understand what they were seeing, where the rain falls in silence and arrives on the ground already solid, already faceted, already the thing it is going to be. She has been to the highest mountain she has ever climbed, ever seen, where the monastery is carved into the rock face and the direction it points is the only thing about it that matters, and she came back from that one changed in ways she has not explained and does not need to. She wears a piece from there now. She has since the day she came back. She does not talk about it. https://www.pedlarsattic.com/blogs/the-hearthside-annex/the-mountain-that-touches-the-face-of-god

Luna arrived the way she arrives everywhere — like she had already assessed the room before she walked into it and found it acceptable but not above criticism. Heavy boots. Green eyes that glow green when the magic gets serious or the emotion gets intense, which with Luna is not infrequently, because she is a darker form of fairy, living in human form, and fairies, who darken, in human form carry more than human forms were designed to hold...
She carries it anyway, all of it, with the particular grace of someone who has been to the dark places and come back from all of them and has strong opinions about what was worth it. At the center of her, beneath everything — beneath the festy and the sassy and the rebel and the heavy boots and the green eyes and the wings she keeps hidden when in human form, because the world is not always ready for what she actually is — There is a pure white seed of good there, she has never advertised it. She has never needed to. The sirens read it the first time they came through the portal, before she had said a word, before she had done anything except stand in the hallway and look at them with the particular expression she uses when she is deciding whether something is a threat or simply a fact. They read the seed. They responded to it. Not to the fire, not to the frustration, not to the barely-contained everything that is Luna at rest — to the seed. To the thing underneath everything else. She went very still. This was new territory. She has been in new territory before. She has never been in territory quite like this. She navigates Ironspire's Shadow Districts the way she navigates everything — by knowing what she has, knowing what they want, and moving fast enough that the chaos works for her rather than against her. She completed wolf trials alone. She has a card from a Zoltar-fortune-telling-machine in the Aether-Reach. The one that got there how?... She still has that card, she has never shown anyone. It is still in her boot. Chelle has not asked. This is the way of certain things — they belong to the person who received them, and they are more powerful for remaining there. or...
"This is the thing about coming back from Ironspire — from any of the places on the other side that cost you something — that Luna has never said out loud and Chelle has never asked about. The moment between arriving and unpacking. The moment when the exhilaration is still in the blood and the sharpness is still in the hands and something underneath both of them is doing the older, quieter work of deciding what the trip meant..." https://www.pedlarsattic.com/collections/accessories

Cinder and Ash came with Luna, the way they have always come with Luna, which is to say: Cinder came because his person went, and Ash came because she had already decided to go before anyone else had made a decision and was simply waiting for the rest of them to catch up. Cinder is a male wolf. Dignified. Steady. The one who lifts his head, assesses, and decides something is not a threat — which is, in the accounting of wolves, the highest compliment available. He holds when holding is the right thing to do. He positions himself between the people he loves and anything unknown without ever acknowledging he has done it. His slow burn with Ash is the thread that runs through every story the Attic tells — never confirmed, never resolved, always present in the way he goes still when she is hurt and the way she goes still when he is distressed, and the way neither of them has ever once acknowledged that the other noticed. https://www.pedlarsattic.com/collections/gifts-novelties-treasures-for-the-wonderfully-odd

Ash is a female wolf whose chaos is not random. It is, in retrospect, always flirting. She sits on things. She knocks things off counters. She investigates new arrivals at close range, nose first, and then sits back with the expression of a wolf who has conducted a thorough assessment and found the results satisfactory, and then knocks something off a shelf and looks at the ceiling...
In Fenrisheim — the Wolfsong Expanse (that is rhe pairs' home territory), there is an ancient land where the only human civilization that ever lived as equals with the wild wolf, left their knotwork and their carved stone and their wolf-face pendants in the earth as offerings, and the pack kept them — Ash is a ninja. Precise. Silent. Devastating. The wolves who have known her longest are still occasionally surprised by this. They should not be. They have had enough time to learn.

The Closet is through the louvered doors that never fully latch. They are always slightly open — two rows of Harajuku-style graphic tees perpetually puffing out through the gap, shirts peeking through like they're saying *pick me* — and if you push through the middle of the two rows they let you in, easy, like they were expecting you, patting you on the back as you step through. On the other side is a perfectly round, globular room — a spherical library of tees on every wall, floor to ceiling, curving all the way around. The shirts tend themselves. They flit — like little dementors, like birds — folding themselves, rehanging, moving from shelf to hanger to shelf with the purposeful industry of a room that has opinions about how things should be arranged and the autonomy to act on them. Sometimes one drifts over and lands near you. Sometimes the right one falls at your feet. The skull tees from the Ashen Plains have been there long enough to have opinions and the confidence to act on them. They have helped new arrivals find their shelves. They have made room — the generous kind and the other kind, the kind of space that you make quickly and quietly when something sits down next to you and you decide you are going to give it exactly as much space as it wants. The Closet knows what belongs in it. It has always known. It was simply waiting for the pieces to arrive. Luna got lost in there once. She was in there(or trapped?) for what she maintains was four hours. Chelle maintains it was five minutes. Luna did not go back in after a tee for a month. The Closet doors were, during this period, open slightly wider than usual. This may or may not have been deliberate. The Closet does not explain itself. https://www.pedlarsattic.com/collections/t-shirt-chaos

The worlds on the other side of the portal are real. This is the thing we need you to understand before anything else. Not metaphorically real. Not real in the way that stories are real, which is a real kind of real but a different one. Actually, physically, geologically, meteorologically real — with their own histories and their own rules and their own understanding of what the world is and what it owes anyone, which in most cases is nothing, which is the correct answer.

The Shattered Peaks are where Midnight goes when he needs to remember what he is. The thermals rise from cooling magma fields. The dragons in the high crags know the sapphire dragon's frequency the way the earth knows water — completely, without needing to be told. The Dragonforged pieces come from the deep place beneath the crags where sapphire flame has been meeting cloth for longer than the Attic has existed, where the pieces are not made but recognized, pulled from the fire already knowing what they are. https://www.pedlarsattic.com/collections/dragonforged-fashion

The Aether-Reach is the world between worlds, the place where the sky is not a ceiling but a conversation. It is always raining, or it is not raining at all. The drops fall in silence, gathering themselves as they descend, hardening in the air before they reach the earth, arriving already solid, already faceted, already the thing they are going to be. Mars rain falls in bloodstone and carnelian — hot, percussive, urgent. Venus rain falls in rose quartz and opal — warm, luminous, the drops catching the indigo light and throwing it back in colors that have no names in any language that doesn't also have a word for longing. Mercury rain falls fast and sharp in citrine, clarifying everything it touches, making thoughts arrive fully formed. Every horoscope ever read, every birth chart ever drawn, every stone circle ever built to remember the geometry of the sky — all of it traces back here, to the Observatory keepers, to the crystal rain, to the world where the sky delivers its influences directly, physically, in stone form, to the ground. https://www.pedlarsattic.com/blogs/the-hearthside-annex/the-aether-reach

The Tideborn Deep is the ancient ocean on the other side of the portal. It is salt and depth and the particular darkness that begins where the light gives up trying. The sirens who live there are telepathic with each other — full silent conversations conducted in pure feeling, visible to the girls as expressions of happiness and sadness and amusement that pass between them with no sound and no gesture and yet are unmistakably complete. With humans and animals they are empathic — they read emotion beneath the surface, not performance. They chose the Attic. Deliberately. After reading its frequency from the other side of the portal, feeling enough to know it was worth approaching, feeling enough to prepare. The compact is simple: they can come through. The girls cannot go there. The shell on the shelf behind the counter is the first gift and the ongoing promise. https://www.pedlarsattic.com/blogs/the-hearthside-annex/the-tideborn-deep

Fenrisheim — the Wolfsong Expanse — is Cinder and Ash's home territory, and it is the only place in any world where a human civilization ever lived as equals with the wild wolf. They arrived with empty hands. Were answered. Hunted alongside the pack. Left offerings in the earth that the pack kept. Their artifacts found their way through centuries and through the portal into the Attic, and they carry the pack memory in every piece — the memory of a compact between species that was made without words and has never been broken. https://www.pedlarsattic.com/blogs/the-hearthside-annex/fenrisheim-the-place-the-wolves-came-home

This is what we are. A shop at the convergence of ley lines, tended by an earth magician and a dark fairy, watched over by a sapphire dragon who has outlived civilizations and moved half a mountain for the people he loves, accompanied by two wolves whose slow burn is the thread that runs through every story we tell, visited by sirens who read your soul before you've said a word and send things through the portal that correspond to what they sense you need. The Closet doors are almost closed. Almost. The gap remains, as it always does, as it apparently always will. Something in the spherical room beyond has already decided it's yours. Come and find it.

The Mist Valley Crop Top — Boho Festival Tops Collection is a collection of twelve boho-style crop tops in hollow-out, tassel, spaghetti strap, back lace, and halter neck silhouettes — white and apricot colorways, one size fits most (recommended 40–65kg, bust 62–87cm, length 31cm). Lightweight and breathable, constructed for movement and warm weather and the particular ease of a body that knows it looks good. From the Hidden Mist Valley. Made by the Silken Court, for Chelle, and now for you.

The fairies of the Silken Court have been tending the fabric and the mist and the specific quality of light that comes through the valley canopy for longer than anyone has been keeping records. They have opinions about what gets worn in their valley. They have opinions about what gets worn by people they have decided to dress. The first time Chelle arrived in the wrong thing entirely, she found something considerably better folded neatly on a root at the edge of the path. There was no one visible. She looked around. She changed. The mist settled in a way that she chose to interpret as approval, which is the correct interpretation.

She has worn the right things in the valley ever since. The Silken Court does not make this difficult. They make it easy — they make it so easy that you stop noticing you are being dressed by entities who have been thinking about light and fabric and the female form in warm weather for centuries, and you simply feel like yourself, which is exactly the effect they are going for. The hollow-out styles let the valley air move through. The tassel styles catch the light at the hem when she walks and make the dragonflies curious. The halter-neck styles — the ones with the intricate lattice work, the floral crocheted panels, the construction that looks effortless and is nothing of the kind — those are the ones the Silken Court is most proud of. You can tell by how they folded them.

She wore the hollow-out halter to the Sunrise Steppes on a warm morning when the high stone country was doing what it does in the early season: holding the heat of yesterday and releasing it slowly, the plateau warm before the sun has finished rising, the air off the canyon clear and carrying the mineral-green smell of the river below. She was going down to the Becoming Places — the river shallows where the round polished beads turn up in the current, where the earth's patience becomes visible in the form of stone that has been worked smooth over geological time by water that had nowhere else to be. She goes there often. The Soraveen know her by now. They watch her move through their territory with the comfortable acknowledgment of people who understand that some presences simply belong to certain landscapes, even when those presences come from very far away.

The Cougar was at the lower bank. She has seen it before — in the canyon, at the Becoming Places, once at the edge of the mesa in the early light when she was coming up from the shallows. It is always the animal: still, watchful, present in the particular way of a creature that has decided whether something is a threat or not and settled into simply observing. She came around the bend in the shallow path wearing the Silken Court halter and the Cougar looked up. And then — and this is what she thinks about afterward, on the long walk back — it tilted its great head. Slowly. The particular tilt of something that is not sure what it is seeing is real. The expression was not alarm. It was not threat assessment. It was the expression she has seen exactly once before: at the waterfall pool, at the canyon edge, in the story she doesn't tell at the counter but that Midnight knows and has always known. The same tilt. The same quality of stillness around the uncertainty. She held the Cougar's gaze for a moment — calm, unhurried, because she is Chelle, because she learned patience from a landscape that invented it — and then continued down to the water. She heard nothing behind her. She did not look back. Some things you carry forward, not backward.

She wore the spaghetti-strap style to the Sunrise Steppes on a different day, when she was tracking the western rim path to see what the Soraveen called the Dusk Watcher's view — the angle from which the mesa's western edge looks out over the painted canyon country and the river threading south. The man on the western rim is always there when the light is right, which is to say he is there often. He is the kind of figure who belongs to a landscape the way a hawk belongs to a thermal: present, calibrated, read...

09/14/2026

The Aether-Reach Dowsing Pendulum — Natural Stone Divination Tool is a polished natural stone cone pendulum for divination, dowsing, chakra work, and reiki — approximately 15×22mm, on a fine silver chain, available in twelve stones: amethyst, pink crystal, lapis lazuli, tiger eye, watermelon stone, opal, white crystal, green aventurine, black agate, white howlite, blue sand, and gold sand. Each stone is unique in color and pattern, because that is the nature of natural stone and also, as it happens, the point. No two readings are identical. Neither is the stone. This is not a coincidence.

The distinction that matters — the one she had to be told before she understood it, and then had to sit with for a while before she believed it — is the one between yes/no questions and the harder kind. Most people come to a pendulum with yes/no questions. This is reasonable. Yes/no questions are the ones that feel most urgent from the inside. They are also, frequently, not the actual question. The actual question is the one underneath — the one you have been carrying long enough that you've stopped noticing its weight, the one that has been with you in the form of a feeling you haven't named, a decision you keep not making, a direction you keep looking in when you think no one is watching. The pendulum doesn't answer the yes/no question you brought. It answers the one you've been avoiding. This is the distinction that matters. This is what makes it useful.

Chelle learned it from one of the older keepers at the edge of the crystal rain system — the place in the Aether-Reach where the water drop crystals form mid-air from falling rain, condensing out of the mist at the precise point where this world and the next are close enough to touch. The keeper was a woman who had been working with stones and chains for long enough that she'd stopped being surprised by what they said. Not because the stones had become predictable — they hadn't; they don't — but because she had reached the particular peace of someone who has been in a conversation long enough to trust that the conversation knows where it's going, even when she doesn't. She told Chelle: the stone already knows. You just have to be quiet enough to hear it. Chelle has been working on the quiet part ever since. She is, for the record, very good at it.

The Aether-Reach is Hecate's domain — the crossroads of worlds, the threshold space, the place between places where the veil is thin enough to feel with your hands if you know what you're reaching for. This is why pendulums work in the Reach in a way they work nowhere else quite so cleanly: everything in the Aether-Reach already exists at the boundary between knowing and not-knowing. The pendulum isn't being asked to bridge a gap. It's being asked to operate in a space where the gap is already the nature of the terrain. It is, as the older keeper said, simply at home here.

The bundle came through twelve stones at a time, each wrapped in the care of something that has been handled often and with intention — the particular density that accumulates when an object has been in contact with deliberate practice long enough that the practice is part of the material. Amethyst for clarity of purpose. Lapis lazuli for truth — the frequency of truth specifically, not comfort, not ease, but the clean direct thing. Tiger eye for grounded courage. Opal for the liminal, for the between-state, for the frequency of things that are not yet fixed. Black agate for protection at the threshold. Blue sand and gold sand for water and light, the two directions the Reach moves between.

Chelle set them out on the velvet in a row and stood at the edge of the display. She didn't touch them. She waited. She is good at this — at the particular patience of allowing something to declare itself before you reach for it, the patience she learned from the Soraveen above the Sunrise Steppes who wait for the earth to offer rather than reaching in. One of the amethyst ones moved. Not dramatically — a small rotation, a shift in how the light caught the chain. But it moved. She picked it up, held the chain at the crown, let it settle into stillness. It swung immediately and decisively in a direction she was not expecting. She set it down. Picked it up. Same direction. She nodded at it the way she nods at things that are telling the truth without any interest in softening it — the nod that means: I hear you, I believe you, I will work with what you've told me. She put it in her pocket. It has been there since. This is how it works with the good ones. Th...

09/14/2026

The Aether-Reach Divination Board is an engraved wooden pendulum board — 26 letters, numbers 0–9, YES and NO, GOOD BYE, and the symbols of the threshold engraved deep into dark wood in gold. Triple moon and pentagram. Skull corner pieces. The death moth at the base, held in open hands reaching upward. One heart-shaped planchette included, engraved to match. Twenty designs — each a different expression of the threshold surrounding the same letters, the same numbers, the same two words that matter most. 12 inch. Select your design at checkout.

Luna does not go looking for things in the Aether-Reach. She goes through the Reach — on her way somewhere, on her way back, passing through the threshold the way someone passes through a room they know well enough not to have to think about. She is not a browsing person. She does not wander. She moves with direction, with purpose, with the particular forward energy of someone who has a list of things to accomplish and intends to accomplish them and will be irritated by anything that gets in the way of that.

The board was not in the way. It was on a flat stone at the edge of the mist line — the boundary where the Aether-Reach's protective mist begins, where things that have passed through the threshold sometimes settle and leave themselves behind. She almost walked past it. She did not walk past it. This is the thing about Luna: she notices everything, even when she is moving with direction and purpose and a list. Especially then. The noticing is not optional. It is the nature of what she is.

She stopped. The board was already engraved — the letters in their arc, the numbers below, YES at the upper left and NO at the upper right, GOOD BYE at the base, the triple moon and pentagram above, the skulls at the four corners, the death moth held in reaching hands at the bottom. Deep gold on dark wood. The planchette sat in the center of the board as if someone had placed it there carefully and then stepped away one moment before she arrived. The threshold does this sometimes. It has a sense of timing. She finds this annoying and also, always, exactly right.

She picked it up. She held the planchette lightly — two fingers, the correct contact, enough presence without enough pressure to steer — and she asked one question into the space between the known and the unknown. The planchette moved. She does not say what the answer was. She has been asked. She says: the board answered correctly. She says it in the tone that ends the conversation, and then she moves on, which is how Luna handles things that are real and personal and none of anyone's business except hers and whatever she was speaking to.

She brought it back through the portal and set it on the counter without ceremony. She went to make tea. This is how Luna says: this one is real. Not with announcement. Not with explanation. She sets it down and she leaves the room and she makes tea, and the thing she has brought back is allowed to be in the space on its own terms, which is the correct way to introduce something that came from the threshold.

Cinder assessed it in three seconds. He moved to his position — the one that placed him between the board and the door — and sat. He watched. This is Cinder's full endorsement: he positioned himself between it and the exit, which means he had decided it was real and it stayed, and anything that tried to argue with that decision would have to go through him. Ash came from wherever Ash comes from and sat directly in front of the counter facing the board. She did not knock anything over. This was notable. Ash knocks things over when she is performing attention. When something has her full actual attention, she goes still. She was completely still.

Midnight lowered his great head through the skylight and looked at the engraving for a long time. He did not rumble — the rumble is approval, recognition, the sound he makes when something significant arrives and he wants it known that he acknowledges it. He went silent instead. The complete, total stillness he reserves for things that are older than he is. He tilted his head once — the single slow tilt of something encountering a frequency it respects without fully knowing where it originated. He did not elaborate. Midnight never elaborates. He simply was there, and then he went back up to the rooftop, and the room held what he had left in it, which was the particular quality of quiet that follows a very old thing recognizing something older.

The board works the way divination boards work: planchett...

09/13/2026

The Ironspire Glass Gauge — Pyrex Spiral Taper Ear Stretcher is a hand-worked pyrex glass ear gauge in a spiral taper design — smooth finish, precise fit, sold in pairs. Available in six sizes (5mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm) and seven colorways: transparent, black and white, green, colorful, purple, blue, and red. Pyrex glass: non-porous, hypoallergenic, safe for healed stretches. Each pair made slowly, in a city that mostly does things fast, by someone who never learned to rush because the glass will not be rushed.

Ironspire is famous for its metalwork. The forge district is the reason people come — the hammers that never go cold, the sound of iron on iron carrying three streets in every direction at any hour, the particular weight of a city that was built to make things and has been doing it long enough that the making is in the stone itself. This is what most people know about Ironspire. This is what most people see.

The glass shop is at the edge of the market quarter. It sits between a stall that doesn't advertise what it sells and a corridor that most people choose not to walk down. The glass shop has no sign. It doesn't need one. The light it puts into the street at night is enough — molten color moving slowly through the window, the particular warmth of something being made on purpose in a place that mostly trades in things made without it. You either notice the light or you don't. Luna noticed the light.

She finds most things in Ironspire the way she found this: by following the wrong street deliberately and seeing what it had. She does not believe in getting lost. She believes in choosing a direction that most people would call wrong and staying with it long enough to find out what it knows. This approach has a high success rate in Ironspire, which is a city that rewards exactly that kind of stubbornness and offers nothing to the person looking for the obvious entrance. She ducked inside. The glassblower was at the furnace.

She was pulling a gather of molten glass — teal, as it happened, the particular blue-green of deep still water in a place that doesn't get enough light — and spinning it with the unhurried attention of someone who has been doing this long enough that the glass tells her what it wants to be before she decides. The spiral came naturally from the rotation: the teardrop loop forming first, the tail following, the curl at the end settling into itself without being forced. Luna stood in the doorway long enough to read the room. Exits. Weight. What was and wasn't being said. Then she came in. Sat on the bench by the wall. Watched.

The glassblower did not look up. This was not rudeness. In Ironspire, not looking up when someone you don't know comes through your door is sometimes the highest respect — the acknowledgment that whoever just walked in already knows what they're doing and does not need to be managed. Luna understood this immediately. She sat quietly, which is not her usual approach to most situations, and watched the glass become what it had decided to be while it was still liquid.

The pair she brought back first was the teal. She set them on the piercing display without ceremony — her standard method, the thing-placed-down-without-announcement that means: I found this and it's real and it belongs here. Then she stepped back and looked at the colors in the light. The multicolor ones caught it the way glass always catches it — multiple directions at once, the spiral pulling the light through the curve and dispersing it differently at every angle. The kind of piece that reminds you it's there without demanding you look at it constantly. She picked up the purple pair. Held them. Set them down. Picked them up again. Something about the purple. She didn't say what.

She has been back to the glassblower twice since. She has not explained to Chelle why. Chelle has not asked. Some things in Ironspire are Luna's — her streets, her wrong turns, her contacts who don't advertise, her shops without signs. The market quarter keeps its own hours and its own counsel. What comes out of it that is worth having was worth finding. These were worth finding.

Measure carefully before ordering. The glass is smooth where it should be smooth and precise where precision matters — which, with ear work, is everywhere. Use only in fully healed stretches. Do not drop: glass, even strong pyrex glass, does not forgive the floor, and the glassblower in the market quarter did not make them to be dropped. She made them slowly, with the unhurried attention of someone who knows exactly what the glass is for. Wear them the same way.

Nobody propped the portal open. That is the first thing to understand.

The portal operates on its own logic, which has never fully aligned with the logic of the people who use it. Things come through when they decide to come through. Things stay on the other side when they decide to stay. Chelle has spent years making peace with this. Luna has spent years being annoyed by it. The portal has not adjusted its behavior in response to either of them.

So when the water started coming in — not a flood, not a disaster, just a slow, deliberate seep across the floorboards, salt-cold and smelling of something ancient and deep — neither of them was entirely surprised. Surprised enough. But not entirely.

Cinder lifted his head from across the room. Assessed. Decided it was not a threat, which is the most useful thing Cinder does and he does it constantly. Ash walked directly into the water, looked down at her paws, looked up at Luna, and then sat down in it. This was either an endorsement or a scientific experiment. With Ash, the line is thin.

The Siren's Call — 3D Mermaid & Ocean Print Tee came through in the second wave — not carried, not delivered, simply present in the way that things from the deep are present: completely, without apology, as if they had always been there and you were the one who had just arrived. The 3D print is extraordinary — a mermaid whose tail moves through the fabric, deep indigoes bleeding into electric teals, the white foam of a breaking wave caught at its peak. It landed on the counter the way the tide lands on shore — inevitable, unhurried, exactly where it meant to be.

Chelle stood very still. She has learned, over years of working near the portal, that some things require stillness rather than action. The water was not rising. It was not threatening. It was simply there, the way the ocean is simply there — present, indifferent, older than anything in the room including the Attic itself.

Luna looked at the tee on the counter. Looked at the water on the floor. Looked at Ash, sitting in it with the serene expression of a wolf who has decided this is fine.

"We can't go there," Luna said. It wasn't a complaint. It was just the fact of it. The mermaids' world is underwater. The portal doesn't change that. Some doors only open one way, and the ocean had simply decided to use its.

By the time the water receded — slowly, the way it came, without drama — the tees were in the Closet. The Closet doors were open slightly wider than usual. Something behind them was moving with a particular kind of contentment.

Midnight had not moved from the rooftop. But he had been very still in the particular way that means he was paying close attention to something below.

The ocean does not ask permission. It simply arrives, leaves what it came to leave, and goes back to being the ocean.

The Earthsong Enchantress collection at Pedlar's Attic is built for her — gothic lace patchwork midi dresses, PU leather zip mini skirts, sheer mesh lace tie-front tops, fairy veils, boho fringe suede vests, AltGoth cyber punk dresses, Harajuku dark goth dresses, dragon print mesh long sleeves, Celtic triple moon goddess necklaces, Hekate wheel pendants, Wheel of Hecate bracelets, ankh charm bracelets, Vegvisir Viking rune necklaces, ear gauge kits, belly button rings, and the kind of jewelry and apparel that has never once needed anyone's permission to be exactly what it is.

She is not a character. She is not a title. She is not something you become.

She is something you remember.

She has walked through every age of the world in a different body, a different name, a different wardrobe — but always the same eyes. Always that particular quality of stillness that makes the air in a room rearrange itself when she enters. She has been called witch and goddess and healer and queen and a hundred other names that men invented because they needed something to call the thing they couldn't explain. She has answered to all of them and been defined by none of them. She knows what she is. She has always known.

Chelle is one of her. One of many, across all of time — auburn-haired, freckled, barefoot when the weather allows, deep blue eyes that glow softly with earth magic on ordinary days and burn like something ancient and enormous when she calls on it fully. When that happens the crystals go quiet. The candles straighten. Even Midnight — ancient, massive, a dragon who has outlived civilizations — goes completely still. Not from fear. From recognition. He knows what he is looking at. He has always known.

What the world does not know about Chelle — what she does not speak of, what Luna does not ask about — is that she did not arrive here from gentleness. She arrived here through fire. There was a past. There was an event. Something happened that was significant enough to redirect the entire trajectory of who she was becoming — away from destruction, toward healing. Away from the fire she once believed she was made of, toward the earth that was always waiting for her. She does not talk about it. The silence around it is not emptiness. It is weight. It is the weight of a choice made at great cost and kept every single day since.

This is the Tao made visible in a single person: she is the yin — pure, gentle, wise, healing — but the yin always carries the dot of yang. Her seed of darkness is her past. It lives inside her, contained, subdued, harnessed. Not gone. Held. She is not pure because she has never known darkness. She is pure because she chose it — every single day — over something she knows intimately. That is the harder purity. That is the real one.

The dragons of this world are not tamed by force. They never have been. Warriors tried. Armies turned back. Kings spent lifetimes and fortunes and the full weight of their ambition attempting to do what the Earthsong Enchantress does without trying, without raising her voice, without breaking her stride. She simply looks at them. And they lower their heads. Not because she commands it. Because something in them — something older than their fire, older than their wings, older than the first mountain they ever circled — recognizes the frequency she carries and responds to it the way the earth responds to rain. Inevitably. Completely. Without resistance.

Men have spent centuries writing this down as mystery. The dragons could correct the record. They won't. Some things are not for explaining.

But there is something the dragons know that the histories never recorded: she is not only the one who soothes the fire. She carries fire of her own. On the rarest of occasions — when something pushes past every boundary she has set, past every wall of patience and wisdom and grace — it surfaces. Her eyes stop glowing softly and begin to blaze. Her auburn hair lifts on an invisible wind and as it rises it shifts, the auburn deepening toward red, almost luminous, almost burning — the color of the fire she once believed she was made of. The room does not just go quiet. The room holds its breath. It is the image of Galadriel in Lothlórien, offered the One Ring, the terrible beauty of unconstrained power filling every corner of the space before — always, always — she pulls it back. She has always pulled it back. She has never unleashed it on anyone who deserved it. Not once. That restraint is not weakness. It is the most active, ongoing, daily choice she makes. She is not gentle because she cannot be otherwise. She is gentle because she decided to be — and keeps deciding — in full knowledge of what she is capable of.

Luna has seen it happen. Once. It scared the hell out of her — not the flinch of ...

The river does not hurry. This is the first thing the Soraveen teach their children — not as a lesson about patience, but as a fact about the river. It is not patient. It simply does not experience time the way things that breathe do. It has been doing this work since before the mesa had a name, and it will be doing it long after the last person who knows the name is gone. The stones in the shallows are not waiting to be found. They are simply finished. The river sets them down when it is done with them, and then it moves on, and the stone stays, and eventually someone comes along who knows how to receive what has been left.

Chelle has been coming to the Becoming Places for years.

She knows the particular quality of light in the canyon in the late afternoon — the way it comes in at an angle that makes the wet stones in the shallows glow from the inside, each one briefly lit as though it has something to say. She knows which bends in the stream run shallow enough to wade without losing her footing, and which ones run deep and cold and should be respected. She knows the sound the water makes when it is moving over something smooth — a lower register than the sound it makes over rough stone, a sound that means the river has been working here for a long time and has finished something.

She was following that sound the afternoon she found the first pair.

She had been working the shallows for an hour — coat pockets already heavy with crystal chips and round beads, the particular harvest of a good afternoon in the Becoming Places — when she heard the register change at the bend ahead. She waded toward it. The water was cold and clear and running fast over a bed of stones that had been in the river long enough to lose every sharp edge they had ever had. She crouched at the waterline. She waited.

The dew drop shape surfaced in the current and came to rest against her boot.

She picked it up. It was cool and smooth and heavier than it looked — the particular weight of stone that has been compressed by something patient and ancient, the weight of a thing that has been finished rather than merely made. She held it up to the afternoon light. The stone caught it the way polished things do, finding the angle that makes the color come alive — deep and warm and carrying something in it that she recognized without being able to name. She turned it in her fingers. The dew drop form was perfect. Not carved. Formed. The river had done this.

She found the second one three steps downstream, resting in a small hollow in the riverbed as though it had been placed there. She held them together in her palm. They were a pair. The river had made them as a pair, over however many years it takes to make something like this, and had set them down in the shallows of the Becoming Places at the precise moment she happened to be standing there.

She put them in her coat pocket with the crystals and the beads and waded back to the bank.

Midnight was on the rooftop when she came through the portal. He lowered his head through the skylight — the slow, ancient consideration of a creature who has been watching rivers make stones for longer than the Soraveen have been standing beside them — and regarded the dew drops in her open palm. He did not rumble. He simply looked. The looking lasted a long time. Then he lifted his head back through the skylight and was still, and the stillness meant something, and Chelle set the stones on the display shelf and did not move them again.

The Earth & Edge — Dew Drop Stone Ear Plugs & Gauges are what came through after that. Natural stone body jewelry in the dew drop form — the shape the river makes when it has been working something long enough to round every edge into a curve that fits perfectly in the palm of a hand. Keyhole saddle design. Double flare. The weight of something that has been here longer than you have, worn in the ear the way the Soraveen wear everything they find in the river — with the understanding that the stone chose you as much as you chose it.

Available in natural stone styles including Amethyst, Tiger Eye, Opal, Pink Stone, Black Stone, Blue Turquoise, and more — each one unique, because natural stone is always unique, always carrying the record of the water and the pressure and the particular mineral composition of the place it came from. Sizes from 6mm to 25mm. The river has been making all of them for a very long time. They are ready now.

Stone remembers the earth it came from. Now it remembers you too...
