It is with great sadness that we share the news that our colleague and friend, Bob Collignon, has passed away.

He was a deeply valued member of our Art and Design community, but his connection to Buffalo State and the Buffalo arts community reached far beyond his time in the classroom. A Buffalo State alumnus, Bob built a long career as a professional photographer and artist while remaining an active part of the local arts community for decades. He eventually brought that wealth of professional experience back to Buffalo State, where he shared his knowledge, talent, and love of photography with our students.

Bob was a dedicated educator and mentor who was always willing to share what he knew, whether he was teaching a class, helping a student with their work, or lending his expertise to a colleague. His influence can be seen in the many students and photographers he taught, mentored, and worked alongside over the years.

But Bob was much more than his accomplishments. He was a friend and a source of joy for so many of us. His warmth, humor, generosity, and unmistakable personality made him someone people genuinely enjoyed being around. He brought something special to our department, and Upton will not feel quite the same without him.

We know this loss will be felt deeply by our faculty, staff, students, alumni, and the larger Buffalo arts community. We are grateful for the many years Bob shared his talent, knowledge, friendship, and laughter with all of us.

Please keep Bob's family and loved ones in your thoughts during this very difficult time.
