Our Story

Loony's is our summer store here in Ely, MN from late-May thru mid-Sept; our winter store is in Quartzsite, AZ which is called Hwy 50-95 Rock Shop from Dec-Jan; and our year round ebay store is called bfdgems (now don't laugh - that stands for Business for Debbie). This busy schedule insures we don't get bored. And being in AZ for 2 months puts us in turquoise haven for hand selecting the pieces to bring back to MN. Our ebay store pretty much operates year round, except when we travel from NV to MN in the spring and back again in the fall, then we shut the ebay store down as we drive across country. And then there is the potential of spending a month in March with the grandkids, and if that happens, well then, we're just off line for the month playing with those three angels and loving every minute with them. We bought a 50 year old rock shop back in NV in 2007 and we are daily unpacking boxes of items wrapped in 1970-something newspaper, so a lot of these treasures have not seen the light of day in over 40 years. Loony's shop is set up as a touristy gift shop, where our AZ shop is set up as an old time rock shop. Between the 2 shops we get to play with the "pretty and shiny" and the "rough and slabs".
