A very busy day today! Finished the Marshmallow Creme (enough for 60 batches, will we use it all? 🤔) and got some Spicy Candied Almonds and Mexican-Spiced Chocolate Pecans done! See you at the Maple Leaf Festival ! Only 15 days to go!!

Got sidetracked when Jan let her syrup got to hard crack stage and had to pivot. We now have blackberry hard candy. The blackberry got us thinking while we were waiting for that to soak out of the pan and we tried making some tiny hand pies. The first we thought were too small. The second size we thought were too big with too much crust. The lone last we think is the right size. Come and try one if you're around. Vote for the one you'd like best.

Today is Marshmallow Creme Day! I need to make 15 batches. Each batch of Creme makes 5 batches of Fudge. Second level prepping for the Maple Leaf Festival!

Preparations are underway for the Maple Leaf Festival on October 17 and 18! This year we are only taking food items! We will have 40 flavors of fudge, 6 types of snacky cracker types stuff, 10 flavors of marshmallows, 7 varieties of candied/flavored nuts, and 15 flavors of quick breads both sweet and savory. Gluten-free and vegan options will be available. Jan accepts your well wishes as she starts 2+ weeks of 8-14 hour baking days and asks your forgiveness if she's just a little grumpy!!

Due to a Bingo fundraiser at the Emporia Senior Center, we will be closed Saturday, October 3.

Today Jan got heated out early. Amazing how fast 6 pilot lights and baking for 4 hours can bump the thermostat over 80°! Hotter inside than out! But the good news is three fold: 1) no baking on Friday!! 2) there are 3 dozen regular M&M Cookies and 8 regular Peanut Butter Cookies for $.50 each!! and 3) Gluten Free Dairy Free white cake Cupcakes for $1.50 each. They are purple in color if that sways you in any direction...So stop in tomorrow and nab some early!!
