This order has been in the works for longer than I'm comfortable saying. I remember getting the notification while on my road trip out to LA with my little brother, just before 2025 came to a close. My thoughts, much like now, were about freedom and wanting change and really wanting what I've spent the last 17 years working on, but only on the sidelines.

The person this order went out to is not just a long-time, dear friend. She is someone who I designed her entire wedding invitation suite for between 2012 and 2013 - a process that begun while I was studying paper making in Japan. She has supported me and my creativity for so long, I can't even express how much it has meant.

It is friends like her who keep me going. It is also people like her who truly show love and kindness that help make the world a better place. ❤️

I said a short video, but it kind of long. Either way, popped on talk about women, feminism, standing together, and the cards that honor women in the collection available for sale. More than a sales pitch, I want us to honor women as individuals with rights everyday and not just as moms, wives, etc, when a month or holiday calls for it.

Testimonials never get old. Also, this customer last made a purchase 11 years ago. That she came back to find me and place an order speaks volumes. Also, last week and the days before and after the lunar eclipse have given me so many messages. Times are a changing. This order and message is a gift.

It is one of my favorite days of the year - Valentine's Day! This morning I woke up remembering my first Valentine's Day in NYC as I walked through the Times Square Subway and saw everyone decked out in red. It gave me hope that day in 2007, and it still does today. The world since 2020 is unlike anything I recognize, but I do always look for the people who live, laugh, and love fully and deeply.

For the past 19 years(!!!!), I have shared with the world an annual Love Mix. I thought I might stop doing this a few years ago, but I could not stop. The act of sorting through songs and piecing a story is not just fun, it is healing and has become a ritual for me. To give this up would be heartbreaking. I told some new friends that I used to buy all the songs and then download actual CDs and then mail them to sometimes 30 friends! Talk about analogue! I started this after the art of mixed tape making, but that is the inspiration.

The origin of the Love Mix is my friends. I didn't want my girlfriends, specifically those single, to feel alone. I thought music could link us together not just on Valentine's Day, but whenever we listened to the collection. Over the last few years, these mixes have gotten longer and a bit deeper. I realized these mixes have become soundtracks for long journeys. A year can have a million emotions and things happen even if it doesn't seem that way.

This will be the last year the Love Mix is about the second greatest heartbreak of my 45-year-old life. It is finally the compost for something new and I'm looking forward to what 2027's Love Mix holds. Next year will mark 20 years and I plan to ask y'all for suggestions and recommendations. So stay tuned!

Lastly, I swapped from Spotify to Qobuz. There is no pressure for anyone to do anything they don't, but Spotify is problematic and if we're trying to envision a new world that is inclusive, then we need to ditch terrible companies (including Meta).

P.S. The song used in this post is not on the Love Mix. It is a song that I love that was recorded by someone who left a large mark in this world, and on me with his drumming skills.

So excited for these Save The Dates to land in the mailbox of two of my favorite people in the world. Grateful to my printer in NYC, who has had my back since I launched in 2010, and got these printed and shipped to me so quickly. I love doing this work!

My dad, Howard, died in February 2009. It was a day I'll never forget and followed with a period that left me moving, but full of grief.

A month after his passing, I went to Rome to run my second marathon. Afterward, I spent two weeks traveling by First Class Eurorail around Italy, and then into Barcelona, where I visited a good friend, and finally into Paris, France, where I cheered on another good friend as she ran the Paris Marathon. I made a short detour to Orleans, France, where Joan of Arc and my grandmother hailed from, to return a small amount of my dad's ashes to where he was born. In between all of that was a dream that woke me up with a mission in Cinque Terra, Italy, and a stop in Montpelier, France, that changed the trajectory of my life, but that I could not commit to completely until now, the year 2026, nearly 17 years later.

I'll elaborate on this story in a future post, but for now, I want to focus on this Etsy order that surprised me this week and shipped out today to E Howard Ave somewhere in California. My dad has been instrumental and guiding this dream for a long time now.

There are only 8 copies of this card left in stock and then I plan to discontinue it. Drake is problematic and it is time to usher in new things!

Digital communication and social media let us stay in instant touch when we travel, but snail-mailed postcards are still uniting travellers.
