A New Chapter for Our Community
If you grew up in Ennis or taught here, chances are you knew Mrs. Virginia Phillips.
Mrs. Phillips dedicated over 50 years to education, including 34 years teaching English Language Arts at Ennis Junior High. Even after retiring in 2020, she continued returning to campus because she simply loved being with students and fellow educators.
While she was an incredible teacher, those who knew her know she was so much more. She was a mentor, a friend, and "Gammie" to not only her three granddaughters but to countless students and colleagues whose lives she touched. She had a gift for making everyone feel seen, welcomed, and encouraged.
It is with great honor, and with the blessing of her family, that One Last Chapter will establish Virginia's Little Free Library at Rotary Park.
Our hope is that this little library will continue what Mrs. Phillips loved most: putting books into the hands of others, encouraging a love of reading, and creating a place where our community can gather through stories.
One Last Chapter will proudly maintain and restock the library each week, ensuring that her legacy continues for generations to come.
Details on the library's construction, placement, and dedication will be shared as plans come together. Follow along as we bring Virginia's Little Free Library to life, one chapter at a time.
Because some stories deserve to be shared forever!
Please help us share this exciting news with your family and friends as we honor Mrs. Phillips’ legacy and continue her love of reading throughout our community.
