Today marks the end of an incredible chapter for someone who has become so much more than an employee.

When Maddie Birge first walked through the doors of Boll Weevil Soap Company, she was a high school student. We’ve had the privilege of watching her graduate high school, complete community college, earn her degree from Troy University, and now she’s headed to Auburn University for graduate school while beginning her career as a teacher.

We couldn’t be more proud.

Saturday night, we did something we rarely ever do—we closed early so our team could celebrate Maddie. She deserved every minute of it.

Over the years, she’s packed thousands of gift baskets, melted miles of shrink wrap, applied what feels like millions of labels, and can probably shave soap in her sleep.

For years, Maddie and Chad have been the Christmas Eve and Saturday crew. Countless visitors have had their hands washed by Maddie at our soap sink, and every Christmas season she became “Maddie Lou Who” from Whoville, bringing smiles to children and adults alike.

Maddie has been with us through some of the biggest moments in our company’s history. She celebrated with us when we were honored as Alabama Retailer of the Year, and she stood beside us through the challenges and uncertainty of the COVID shutdown. She wasn’t just watching our story unfold—she was helping write it.

When someone grows up with you, they become more than an employee. They become family.

Maddie, thank you for your hard work, your loyalty, your heart, and your friendship. You have left your mark on this company and on all of us who have had the privilege of working alongside you.

You’ll always be part of the Boll Weevil Soap family. We love you, we’re incredibly proud of you, and we can’t wait to see where this next chapter takes you.

Congratulations, Maddie. Go make a difference in the lives of your students, just as you’ve made a difference in ours. ❤️

Today is Maddie’s last day in the store before her big move to Auburn to pursue her Masters degree! We are going to miss her SO much! We will be closing the store today at 4:00 pm so that all of our staff can celebrate Miss Maddie!

The City of Enterprise, Ala. announced that the Alabama Sweet Tea Festival will transition to a new season and location beginning in 2027. 🫖🧊🍋

After three successful years as an August event at the Enterprise Civic Center and Festival Field, the festival will move to historic Downtown Enterprise and will be held in the spring. While the exact date has not been finalized, the City anticipates hosting the event in April 2027.

The change follows feedback from festival attendees, vendors and community members who expressed interest in enjoying the event during cooler weather.

"We've already had many vendors reaching out to ask when applications will open, and that excitement is incredibly encouraging," said Tammy Doerer, director of tourism and community relations for the City of Enterprise. "As we reflected on past events, we also listened to the feedback we received from our community. The overwhelming response was that people loved the festival, but the August heat made it difficult to fully enjoy everything it had to offer."

Doerer said moving the festival to the spring will create a more enjoyable experience for visitors while allowing the event to continue growing.

"We believe this change will provide a better overall experience for everyone involved," Doerer said. "Spring weather creates a more comfortable environment for guests to spend the day shopping, enjoying entertainment, participating in festival activities and experiencing everything the Alabama Sweet Tea Festival has become known for."

The move also creates an opportunity to partner with Main Street Enterprise by combining the Alabama Sweet Tea Festival with the community's annual spring festival, creating a larger celebration in the heart of downtown.

"Bringing these events together allows us to create an even stronger destination event for Enterprise," said Lily McDaniel, executive director of Main Street Enterprise. "By hosting the festival downtown, we're able to showcase our local businesses alongside the outstanding vendors that have become a hallmark of the Alabama Sweet Tea Festival. Visitors will have even more opportunities to shop, dine and experience everything our downtown district has to offer."

Since its inception, the Alabama Sweet Tea Festival has grown into one of Enterprise's signature annual events, featuring specialty vendors, food, live entertainment, contests and tea-themed experiences that celebrate Southern hospitality.

Planning for the 2027 festival is already underway. Additional information, including the official event date, vendor applications, entertainment lineup and festival schedule, will be announced as details are finalized. For more information, visit www.alabamasweetteafestival.com
