Went digging for old footage of Enumclaw and found this in the Mount Rainier National Park archives. 1933 — and the film card: NEW YORK BOYS DETRAIN AT ENUMCLAW, WASHINGTON.

Here’s the story. It’s the Great Depression, and FDR’s brand-new Civilian Conservation Corps is paying young guys $30 a month — $25 of it mailed straight home to their families — to build Mount Rainier’s trails, roads, and campgrounds. The work was out here. The jobless boys were back East. So the troop trains came to Enumclaw.

Three of the first five CCC companies at Rainier were New York kids — over a thousand men working in the park by July 1933. They stepped off the train right here in our town, and they waved at this camera 93 years ago.

A lot of the trails we still hike today? These guys built them.

Right now, we look like a Spirit Halloween. 🎃
Give us about two months.
We're Outpost EV — an all-electric used car store from the family behind , just a few blocks down the road. Our family's been in the car business since 1969, and now we're building something new: a used car dealership that runs entirely on electric.
We'll be honest — daily posting isn't really our thing. But we wanted a place to document the build. The why, the how, the before-and-after. Someday we'd love to look back on this the way we wish we could look back on 1969 (turns out old photos are hard to come by).
So over the next few weeks, we'll show you what we're working on, what this place is becoming, and what Outpost EV is really about. Especially the why — because we have a feeling the neighborhood is wondering why this isn't a full diesel truck stop. 😄
We've got some genuinely cool things planned, and we promise this won't look like any dealership you've seen.
