Need help from my rigid heddle weaver friends. I purchased a used Ashford Knitter loom for my mother. The first and most frustrating issue is we can't get the rear gear to snap open to move the warp forward. Same problem on the front gear. Under ANY tension, these plastic pieces of frustration, don't budge. Anyone have this loom and have a solution?

We also have a hard time getting a clean shed. Some strings sag just a tiny bit, not all the time, and it is way too easy to get the shuttle under or over them by mistake. I know this may be a tension issue. I have had many floor looms so I get it. But have tried hard to get even tension when warping and still, the problem persists, warp after warp.

Ideas?

I knew I had a LOT of wool this year but JUST WOW! All the new colorways are designed and 24 out of 30 colorways are weighed, bagged and ready to dye. The other 6 will be next spring's clip. Most are 10 lbs each so yup, that's 240lbs of sheep wool, alpaca, a bit of llama and mohair. 15 will launched in June 2027 and 15 held back until we have space to display them. If you come to visit, just know you will be sharing the guest room with bags of wool.

I'm excited we will be vending at the PNW Fiber Exposition coming up Oct 2-4. Class registration is still open but not for long, so go check out their classes and all the fun they have planned for the weekend. This is a great excuse for a fall trip to the peninsula. See you there.

Amazing how fast things dry on the porch. I may complain a lot about the hot days but getting wool to dry in a few hours... BONUS!

I have a very demanding supervisor in the dye studio today. It is 10:45 AM and approaching 80 in the studio. This will be the last batch for the morning. One more batch this evening and the first colorway for 2027 will be done. We'll, at least dyed.

The dye studio is back in business. The first batch of scoured wool is back from the mill and the rest will be here this weekend. Working on a quick batch of firestar for a friend to kick things off. I haven't dyed in the summer months for several years. Now I remember why... it's HOT. The other half of the garage/studio is pottery... probably didn't help that the kiln was running today.

Working with long locks is not a fast or easy process. But I forgot so I took on the project. The fleece is Wensleydale. I carefully pulled all the locks, scoured, then dyed, then pulled the locks apart again as the ends tend to get grabby during dyeing. They are now bundled and will soon be available from Bless Ewe Sheep Company & Sanctuary . Most of the Wensleydale I use in my roving comes from this sanctuary so this project was a thank you. Most colorways will have multiple 2 oz bundled available.

Sitting on the porch, pulling wool. Dusty is keeping me company. Down to the last few bags that will go to the mill to be scoured.
