Some people like sweet and sentimental birthday cards.

And then there are the people who appreciate a little snark. 😂

That’s exactly who I had in mind when I created my Snarky Birthday Collection!

There are currently five different designs in the collection, including:

📀 A little birthday humor for anyone who’s been around since the ’80s

Today my husband, Harold, and I celebrate our 27th wedding anniversary!

We dated for five years before getting married, so we’ve actually been together for 32 years. And when I think back to those early years, there’s one story involving Harold, my greeting card business, and, of course, ice cream. 😂

I had just started my greeting card business, and my sister was making handmade dolls. We had a booth together at the Expo for Today’s Black Women at McCormick Place in Chicago.

I looked up and, to my surprise, saw Harold walking down the aisle with an ice cream cone in his hand.

BTW, that probably should have been my first clue about his ice cream obsession, but I digress. 😂

I had no idea he was coming. He completely surprised me by showing up to support me and my new business.

Throughout these 32 years, Harold has always supported me and my greeting card obsession. Although, I think he may secretly be a little obsessed with greeting cards himself. 😂 He always gives me the BEST cards, and somehow they always perfectly represent me or us.

Birthdays have a funny way of making us think about age.

When we’re kids, we proudly tell everyone exactly how old we are. We even throw in that extra half year when it applies!

Then somewhere along the way, the enthusiasm for announcing that number starts to disappear. 🤣

I think birthdays are worth celebrating at every age because every time you celebrate a birthday, it means you’re still alive! LOL!

But that doesn’t mean you have to announce your age. 😊

So whether you're turning 29, 49, 69, or celebrating the anniversary of your 29th birthday for the 20th time, enjoy your day and let everyone else worry about the math. 😂

If there is ever a day to have more than one slice of cake, your birthday seems like a pretty good one. 😂🎂

For this new birthday card, I illustrated nine different cakes because choosing just one would be boring:

✨ 𝗜 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗮 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗸𝗶𝗰𝗸. ✨

I like tea. I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love a cup of hot tea in the morning. In fact, you may have noticed that tea shows up quite a bit around Stacey M Design. Some of my cards feature tea, and I often style my photos with a cup of tea in the background.

I find tea to be comforting.

A few years ago, Isaiah gave me several teas from Adagio for Christmas. One of them was their Chili Lime Green Tea, and it was SO good! It was citrusy, a little spicy, and definitely not your ordinary cup of tea.

I was disappointed when I learned that Adagio discontinued it.

Then I found out they had another pepper-infused tea: Tri Pepper Chai. Of course, I had to try it.

And I like it!

It’s a chai tea with the warm spices you’d expect, plus a trio of black pepper, pink peppercorn, and chili flakes. Apparently, I like my tea with a little attitude. 😂

I still wish they would bring back the Chili Lime Green Tea, but Tri Pepper Chai is a pretty good consolation prize.

The friendships I value most are the ones where:

* I can completely be myself.
* Months can pass, and we pick up right where we left off.
* We genuinely celebrate each other’s successes.
* We show up for each other when life gets hard.

I love a good book. There’s something about getting pulled into a story and becoming completely invested in characters who don’t even exist. 😂

Although I enjoy many types of books, I have to admit that my favorite genre is murder mysteries. I especially love a good series. One of the series I read is James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club. I’m currently reading the 24th book in the series- The 24th Hour.

Since today is all about books, it seemed like the perfect day to share a greeting card that I designed that features a book. 📖

The message says:

“Your story isn’t over. You’re the author. The hardest chapters lead to the most inspiring endings. KEEP GOING.”

I love the reminder that whatever chapter someone is going through right now, there’s still more of their story to be written.
