Two bald eagles flying across the river. We had to share this video we took today on our evening canoe ride on the Susquehanna. We go out on the river as often as we can, since it’s right literally in our own back yard, and we go bird watching. It’s our way of having mini vacations after work, for those who are concerned that we work too much 😊

Andrea and Mr. Nobody are working hard at getting fabric out into the sewing room.

People tell us that Art of Recycle’s fabric prices are the lowest anywhere, and it must be so, because we can’t keep it in stock for anything. We fill the sewing room and the shelves are practically empty by the next day. All of our fabric is new or in new like condition.

Check out our huge rolls of fabric in the back garage area. FYI, you can cut those and purchase what you need at $2.50lb. That works out to less than $1 per yard for most fabrics. We have no interest in raising our prices on fabric anytime soon.

Open 9am to 6pm Monday thru Friday, 9 to 3 on Saturdays. Located at 27 Cloister Ave in Ephrata.

Did you know that Art of Recycle provides free educational resources like math manipulatives, reading and writing manipulatives and science equipment to classrooms so teachers can spend their budget on the really important items that they need. Now, if we had a source for paper towels, it looks like we could really change the world 🤷‍♀️

"I’m actually impressed at how poorly it absorbs." — Diane D.

82 DEGREES ELEMENTARY SCHOOL —Fourth-grade teacher Mrs. Delgado exhausted an entire roll of institutional brown paper towel Tuesday against a single bead of sweat that formed above her forehead at 9:42 a.m. The bead survived the roll and still persists.

District officials defended the towels, explaining they are engineered to relocate moisture rather than remove it. "Removal is a Tier 3 service," said Facilities Director Mr. Croft, noting that Tier 3 was discontinued in 2014.

Later, the bead was seen advancing a quarter inch, as Mrs. Delgado reached for another roll.

Every summer, for over a decade, Art of Recycle has hosted a free summer camp for pre-teens and teens that are interested in job-training, gaining school credit for non-profit volunteering, earning job references, and/or gaining employment at AoR. This year we brought on six trainees to participate in AoR’s summer camp program and ended the summer with hiring three students that were old enough to be employed, giving these youths an advantage in a career in the non-profit sector and the creative industry.

Art of Recycle’s programs helps pre-teens and teens strengthen their math skills, reading comprehension skills, critical thinking skills, social skills, and overall life skills. When you visit AoR you might see these young men and women involved in projects like sign making, stocking and prepping the free crafting area, assisting and teaching free art classes, learning to operate the register, learning about merchandising, and countless other tasks that are involved in the fundraising and programming areas of AoR’s non-profit.

AoR’s regular job training programs will be starting up for the new school year in the fall. AoR’s store is what funds the programs for these experiences and possibilities that we make available for these students. Your purchases are what gives AoR the advantage of having the best programs available with no cost to the students and no use of taxpayer funds.

AoR’s vintage postcards have been restocked and tidied back to looking neat. We have a great selection!

Did you know that your purchases at Art of Recycle are used to stock classrooms with free supplies? AoR gives disadvantaged area schools and non-profits the ability to provide better programs for children, seniors and individuals with disabilities by distributing to them the tools they need to teach. Everything from the basics, like paper, pens, pencils and markers to science and math tools, like microscopes and manipulatives.

By sharing our mission and our programs, every year you help to increase our budget and that allows us to do even more for our communities. Government grants aren’t the answer, building community centers that sustain themselves through community support is the best solution, and teaching the next generation how to maintain them is how community sustained education thrives. Purchasing a 20 cent postcard goes a long way to supporting the future here at AoR.
