You guys! My cousin gifted me with the cutest little mix of Guinea chicks a while back and they have literally been the BEST guinea fowl we have ever raised. They were bred by a local farm friend. Those babies have grown and are now adults. I had counted 7 adults still on our property and then one came up missing. Logan was out mowing and he found it! Turns out it was a female and she had made a nest! Well today her eggs hatched and she is being a really great momma! They are the cutest tiny little fluff balls! 😍 Now she has 14 babies to take care of 🤣😅

Farm blessings! This season is busy!

**Harvest
We weren't sure we would have much of a fruit harvest, but thankfully we did get a lot of pears and a little apples and plums. We are so excited to finally have plums since getting plum trees to produce here has been a challenge.

The weather this spring was hard on the fruit trees. We have no cherries at all, no peaches, our 2 big apple trees and one smaller tree had a total of maybe 5 apples, but we had one apple tree give us some. So I am canning whatever we are blessed with and we will make it work!

The garden is doing great! We have been picking and freezing green beans, digging fresh potatoes, picking tomatoes, peppers, onions, cucumbers, and melons. I have made 2 batches of pizza sauce this year so far!

**Babies
Millie had her baby! She had a bull calf and he has been named Cricket! We aren't sure if we will keep him or sell him yet. He is from registered stock and his momma is a heavy producer!

We are raising cornish cross chicks! We have 50 little cheepers in the barn at the moment! These guys will move to the chicken tractor once they get big enough! They grow so fast!

**Homeschooling
Aralynn started her sophmore year last week on Monday! This season of only one kid left to school feels so strange! This is my 18th year of teaching!!! We are off to a great start! Aralynn much prefers Algebra 2 over last year's geometry 🤣

**Rain and Concrete
We have been saving our pennies to have our our outside cow concrete redone. The original farm here was actually a dairy farm and all structures were put up in the year 1900. When we bought this place in 2012, we had so much clean up to do. The concrete actually had full sized trees growing up in it. We have patched and repaired it as best we could to make it functional, but it is so hard to keep clean. Once the rain finally stops and the ground dries up, we can finally have our concrete done.

We are also putting a little free stall lean to on the new concrete for added cow comfort! I am super excited for this upgrade! If you aren't familiar with a freestall barn, it allows the cows to lay in clean sand stalls if they want to. It is not for confinement and they will come and go as they please.

**Bell's Palsy Update
Although I am not all the way better yet, I am doing really good! All the nerves in my face are still healing but I have quite a lot of function that has already returned. The worst of my symptoms are over, thank God!

On a sadder note, we had a local farm accident in a family from the town I grew up in. The man was the same age as my brother and it was terribly tragic. I remember seeing him with his family at church when I went with my grandparents as a kid.
We are praying for the family as they mourn their son/brother.

Hey everyone! This month has felt like a whirlwind!

My husband and I celebrated our 20th anniversary on July 1st so we took a trip down to Dale Hollow lake for a week. We had the best time! And the farm was still here and running smoothly when we returned! Lol We left the 2 kiddos (15 & 19) in charge and they did an amazing job!
Unfortunately we had a c**n get into the chicken tractor while we were away and we lost some chickens. Sadly Aralynn's favorite little girl was one of them. Chick pea was so sweet and would just sit on her lap while Aralynn would pet her. I am still sad about that.

Last week Logan, Aralynn, and I left the country for 8 days to serve in Panama. Our trip was filled with so many life changing moments. The host church there has the sweetest church family and the pastor of the construction site/ future church space spent the entire time we were there praising God for His goodness! We had such a great group of people there serving together! We also had a wonderful group of people here in the states keeping the milk flowing while we were away! - Thank you ladies!!!

I am so incredibly grateful for all the people that have formed a community with our family and our farm! It is a blessing to know you all and to do life together ❤️

🎉🎉🎉Upcoming events

✴️Here shortly we will enter the harvest season (I am already picking random tomatoes and green beans)! Let the canning begin 🤪😅🙃

✴️Soap making will be kicking off to prepare for the fall craft show season!

✴️I just ordered Aralynn's school books! I don't know how it's possible that my baby will be starting her sophmore year of school! In case you are new here, we homeschool our children! I have been a homeschool teacher now for 18 years 😎

✴️Oh! And we are getting a TON of concrete poured to repair/replace the circa 1900 concrete mess we have behind the bank barn! It's about to get real! Lol

Also Millie is starting to bag up so we are on baby watch duty with her! And we have extra milk again... and will soon have even more!

✨️✨️In search of✨️✨️

I am looking for a few ppl to add into my list of relief milkers!
This job is a split shift and would just be for the select dates that our family is vacationing or away for dance competitions. The shifts are 5:30am to 7am and 4pm to 5:30pm. I already have someone readily available for the afternoon shift so am primarily searching for additional people that would potentially be available to help in the morning shift. If you like cows and think you might be a good fit and this works with your schedule, please reach out! This is a paid job with fair wages.... but absolutely not for everyone 😅

Please note: once I have all summer dates on my calendar I would work my way down my list of people and whoever is available would then be locked in just for those selected dates.

Hey all! Lots of updates and farm news here!

✨️ We have added a couple ducks and turkeys to our coop!

✨️We found half price meat chicks at the farm store so will be restocking our dwindling supply of chicken! We will be raising chicken for the community still, but that won't start until August.

✨️Eloise (my favorite milk cow) took to AI on the first try and is now pregnant and due in December!

✨️After months of searching, we found what we believe is the perfect addition to our group of dairy girls! We had already traveled to meet miss Millie prior to my latest medical escapades, and she let us know that we were the perfect match! This girl was hugging all over me! Thankfully, my husband is a great truck driver/ cattle hauler and we took the drive time picking her up to enjoy each others company!

✨️Millie is a registered jersey A2 cow and she is getting ready to have her dry time prior to calving! She has jumped right into the schedule and is doing great!

✨️We have brought our piglets home to grow through the summer! Every year we raise up some hogs for us and a few friends and family. These babies are so tiny! They were born at a farm not far from us and were just recently weaned. They are super fun!

✨️We also have a couple bottle calves right now that are helping us use up our extra milk and growing a bit before they will head to their new home in July!

*Health update: my recovery is super slow going but some of the most annoying symptoms have lessened to a more bearable level...lol! I am just taking each day as it comes😊

Life! You never know what it is going to throw you! I wasn't sure whether I even wanted to announce this current struggle, but I feel like too often on FB we hear about all of life's highlights and never see those moments where that person just wanted to give up. Because we all know that we have all been there before...lol.

I am not sharing this for any of you to feel sorry for me and I certainly do not want to give the enemy any credit here because my God is still good and I will get through this!

This week I had an unexpected turn of events when my face started to feel numb. It kind of reminded me of when you've been to the dentist and now you are not sure if you are drooling or not...lol. I went to the dr and she said my jaw was inflamed and to ice it. By morning my entire right side of my face was paralyzed and I got to experience what happens when you go to the er with stroke symptoms. 😅 Thankfully I was diagnosed with bells palsy and not a stroke! So now I have temporary facial paralysis until the nerves heal and I am able to recover. This will take some time, so if you see me in the next few weeks and I look a bit different, this is why.

This has slowed me down a bit, so I am resting more. I am so grateful my milk cows all know what to do and they all enjoy hugs! Our little heifer is especially affectionate and gives the best cow therapy ❤️

Thanking God for all the little moments that make me smile... even if my smile is a little wonky 😆
