Using urban renewal funds, the City of Eugene has provided grant funding to Downtown Eugene, Inc. to light up several downtown alleys. This work supports the City’s strategic plan goal to increase the vibrancy, economic vitality, and livability of Downtown by making our alleys safer.

The alley beside the US Bank Building was recently completed and the alley adjacent to the Broadway Commerce Center is nearing completion. These improvements are already demonstrating what a difference thoughtful lighting can make 🌟

We care about making downtown safe for all visitors, humans and dogs a like! 🐶 Effective June 1st, dogs must be licensed and vaccinated against rabies in order to visit the downtown core. Too many outlets affect downtown’s character

WE LOVE Downtown Eugene and support the long-term initiatives essential in making our downtown core more attractive and livable!

Let’s not continue to price people out of Eugene and make it even less attractive to invest in our city and downtown.

The proposed construction excise tax will ultimately fall on the backs homebuyers and renters, intensifying our city’s housing crunch. Homelessness and affordable housing are important issues that need to be addressed holistically as a city and community. Targeting one industry to bear the cost of this rising issue is not the solution and is a step in the wrong direction for an already struggling downtown. Please join DEI in opposition of the Construction Excise Tax.

The Eugene City Council is considering an excise tax on new construction to raise funds for affordable housing. Though well intentioned, it will almost certainly backfire by making new construction more expensive and reducing the supply of new housing. It is just a step in the wrong direction.
