A little before & after of the fireplace renovation. While we had hoped an original fireplace mantel was hiding behind the 1960’s brick facade; sadly that wasn’t the case. We found this amazing antique mantel at Aurora Mills . The carpet pad in this room had to be scraped off because it had basically become one with the hardwood floors. We ended up having the floors professionally refinished, and we couldn’t be happier with how they turned out. More projects to go, but glad to get this one wrapped up so we can enjoy evenings by the fire again.

Nine months ago we started renovating our living & dining room. I thought it would be pretty straightforward. Despite all the countless hours of work I think it was worth it. Our house was built in 1889, and last remodeled in 1963. Popcorn ceilings, rough textured walls, carpet, a very 60’s fireplace facade. All striped back and allow the true Victorian beauty of this house to shine.
