Last week was a whirlwind!!! We had some of our largest floral orders of the year, and our small but mighty team got everything cut, processed, sorted, and delivered 🤗🙌🏻By the end of the week there were post-it notes EVERYWHERE, and I am so thankful to our local florists for keeping us so busy! The farm has hit full fall abundance, we got some much-needed rain, and we are ready for another busy week.
In non-flower news, it was Titus’s first week of school (senior year of high school 😭) and his first football game. We met our new “nephew” (my brother got a kitten 😆) and enjoyed some really perfect outside weather after the rains passed through.
It’s Labor Day weekend, and that means we are out here working, because you can’t take Monday off on a flower farm in September 🤪The next three days will be a feat of time and space management as we navigate more huge florist orders. Happy Monday!!

Here’s what happened last week!
Well: flowers 😂It never gets old how the season is reflected in the colors of the blooms, and we can see the change as we bring in more saturated colors with every harvest. September is always a really big wedding month here in Oregon, so I spent more time ON my phone taking orders than I did taking photos 🤪Marigolds and dahlias and zinnias are rolling in by the bucketful, and we are amassing quite the stockpile of dried goodies. I love this time of year!
Last week was Titus’s last week of summer break, so he and Brett made a big push to get the engine replaced on the orange truck (long time followers will remember the Orange Truck, it’s quite the legendary vehicle around here). Titus also had his first football game, and we got some fun time with “the cousins.”
This week and next are two of our biggest flower order weeks of the whole year, so I’ve been mentally sorting flowers and color palettes for this week in my brain and on post-it notes for months. It feels good to finally be getting these orders harvested and out the door. Good luck to our amazing florists who have some BIG weddings this week!! I’ll try to document the week, but lately my phone has just been living in my pocket while I scramble around the farm 🤪Happy Monday and have a beautiful week!

Weekly roundup!
Last week was a whirlwind of beautiful flower harvests and hard, hot, sweaty, dirty clean out jobs 😆We got a lot done, and that felt awesome!! The dahlias are FINALLY starting to show their lovely faces, too, so everyone is excited about that. Last week was Maycie’s last week working on the farm (she’s off to college!) and we already miss her 🤗
In non-farm news, we had to say goodbye to some of our favorite friends, some of our very first friends we made when we moved to Oregon. Titus and I especially have been dreading this moment since we found out they were moving, and it was really hard to say goodbye. This weekend was also Camp Agape, a summer camp for local kids who have a parent who is incarcerated. Both my boys and Brett worked all weekend at camp and came home on Sunday afternoon completely pooped. It was a bit of a slog getting out of bed this morning for those guys (SO many emotions and SO little sleep!) but Monday is here, and internships and football double days wait for no man.
Anyways!! I’m heading out to start harvesting. I hope you all have a wonderful Monday!

Have you ever saved pansy seeds? I’m trying it this year for the first time, and I’m excited to see what happens! We grew seven different pansy varieties all together in our tunnel this year, and the bees were hard at work in there every day, so I know that our saved seed won’t come back true to its parent plant. But that’s part of the fun of this experiment - seeing what types of blooms we get from this seed next year 🤗

Here’s what happened last week!
We are finally turning the corner from mid-summer to late summer (praise be 😅). The mornings are a touch cooler and the dahlias are coming out of their heat-induced stupor to actually grow. We spent the week harvesting orders, ripping out and tarping finished rows, and harvesting seeds for our own use AND for next year’s seed sale 🤗 I made the trek to Central Oregon this week, which was great because I got to actually SEE our amazing customers and all their beautiful shops. We weren’t 100% sure all the orders would fit in the van, but we made it work! 🤪 In anticipation of Maycie and Titus’s last days on the farm (they both start school soon), we had “team brunch,” which was super fun.
In non-farm news, it was a pretty laid back week, which I LOVED! If you have “big kids” like I do, you know what a treat it is when everyone is home and you can just hang out. That doesn’t happen very often these days, so when it does I just drop everything and bask in the presence of my family 🤗Maycie and I did get to attend Kenzie’s bridal shower - I’m so lucky to have both of these ladies working on the farm! And finally, I spent the entire week digging myself out from the massive pile of peaches I purchased. We will have frozen peaches for the rest of our days, which is as it should be.
It’s a new week, there are lots of flowers and seeds to harvest, messes to clean up, and dahlias to bag. I’m ready for it 🤗Happy Monday!!

Every time I post pictures of our dried flower bouquets I get tons of questions about what flowers we used, and I always forget to answer them all 🫣🤪So here ya go! We grow all these flowers right here on the farm, and it is SO FUN coming up with different color and texture combinations! Which one is your favorite??

Here’s what happened last week!
Every August, we participate in a local vintage market by stocking one of the booths with our dried flowers. So last week was ALLL about the drieds! Our dried flowers live in sealed cardboard boxes upstairs in the shop, so working with them is a little like Christmas: we get to open all the boxes and make a gigantic mess! 🤪So between our usual tasks of weeding, pinching, harvesting, and delivering, the girls and I spent most of the week sorting through all those boxes and making dried bouquets.
In non-farm news, we had a nice restful weekend - dinner with friends, a birthday party for another dear friend, food from the garden, and I even found time to start a few perennial seeds for next year. It was nice to have a few slow days before ramping up for another busy week of flowers. The great news is that it’s supposed to cool down just a bit for us, and GOSH I am tired of being hot and sweaty all day, so that will be a nice change!! Happy Monday!!

Weekly Update!!
Woah: spring is NUTS!! We survived Mother’s Day and our awesome customers (YOUR local florists!!) made it our best Mother’s Day in nine years of growing. 🤗The amazing weather we’ve been having is pushing our crops right along. All our tunnel crops are done, so we’ve started ripping them out and replacing them with late summer flowers (yay celosia!!!). The same thing is happening in the fields: we are nearing the end of peony season, and the sweet peas and roses have started to bloom right on schedule. There is SO much beauty along with SO much hard, dirty work, and I’m thankful for my small but mighty crew!
Things are just as busy off the farm - Titus is in full-swing with track season, and I’m trying to spend as much time as humanly possible with these gigantic boys who are growing up way too fast.
In case you missed it, Poppy had a BABY!! We’ve named her Penny, and the two of them are just the sweetest little pair. We love watching Penny run around in the field with Poppy trotting concernedly behind her making sure she’s safe.
And finally, I made a YouTube video about soil testing. Videos about dirt will definitely not make me famous 😂 (I think it’s my lowest-viewed video to date 😆), but for those of you who’ve asked me about soil testing, this video might help.
