Medicinal Mad Honey

Medicinal Mad Honey Mad Honey is a magic that can never be entirely captured by words. It must be savored, one spoonful at a time. ✨ .

From a distance, these harvests appear almost identical, as though each season simply repeats the last. Yet the mountain has no interest in repetition. Rain redraws the rock. Moss spreads where bare stone once showed through. Old rope marks disappear without a trace, while the bees choose entirely new places to build. Every return begins with letting go of what was familiar. The hunters don’t come back expecting to find the same mountain. They come back prepared to meet it again, knowing it has been changing in their absence all along.

We never imagined our Mad Honey would end up as a bottle of mead, but here we are…..

It was such a pleasure being part of this little experience and watching bring the whole process to life. From the honey harvested in the cliffs of Nepal to the final brew, it was incredible to see the time, patience and craft that went into making something so different.

We are so glad our honey could be part of this journey, and we are already curious to see what you come up with next. Here’s to more good ideas. Unexpected experiments and great brews ahead. Cheers

People see the climb and call it the story.

But the climb is only the moment we are allowed to witness.

The real story begins long before a honey hunter reaches the cliff. It begins with the giant Himalayan bees, who chose these cliffs long before we ever named them. It grows with the mountain that shelters them through changing seasons, and with the bamboo forests that offer their fibres woven by human hands into the rope that carries courage into the sky. It lives within a community that understands every harvest is a promise: to leave enough behind for the bees, the forest, and the generations still to come.

The honey hunter is never the beginning.

He is simply the next keeper of a story that nature has been telling all along.

There are stories you can read and others unfold through sound. Honey hunting in Nepal has always been one of them.

Some sounds are so familiar to the people who live among these mountains that they no longer think twice about them . Yet to someone hearing them for the first time, they reveal an entire way of life.

Maybe perspective is like that.

What feels ordinary to one person can be extraordinary to another.

Every callus on these hands tells a story.

Not of a single harvest but of a lifetime spent returning to the mountains.

Before the cliffs, before the bees before the mad honey there is this.

The careful preparation. The familiar movements. The same hands that have done this countless times, yet still treat each season with the same respect as the first.

Because when your life depends on what you carry into the mountains, every details matters.

The harvest may happen high above the ground, but it begins here, in the hands that prepare for it.

Every Callus on these hands tells a story.

Of Early mornings, hard work and generations spent learning from the cliffs. Before the journey to the cliffs even begins these hands prepare the tools weaving together skill, experience and trust.

The harvest may happen on the cliffs, but its foundation is built here, in the quiet moments where tradition is carefully held and passed on.

From a distance, the hive looks impossibly large. Up close, it feels even larger, a living city built by thousands of Himalayan giant honey bees against a wall of stone. Hanging beside it on a rope ladder, the honey hunter appears small, almost fragile. Yet generations of knowledge, courage, and trust in the mountain rest on his shoulders. In moments like these, you’re reminded of how small we are in the face of nature, and how far humans will go to earn its rarest gifts.

This grip does not carry weight alone.
Each knot woven carries trust within it in all seasons of harvest. Every climb needs support, and the harvester has his quiet belief in the rope long trusted by generations. The cliff keeps its secrets hidden until the climb begins. Nothing is certain, and no one exactly knows what waits beyond the edge. Between the pull of the rope and the unknown ahead, a honey hunter learns to trust what cannot always be seen. Sometimes, the journey starts with nothing more than a steady hand, a trusted rope and the silence of what the mountain chooses to reveal.

The cliffs will stand still.
The bees will find their way home.
The mountains will continue to echo the stories they have carried for generations
The question is:
Who will remember how to listen?

In Lamjung, generations have grown up learning the language of the cliffs, the behaviour of the bees, and the rhythms of the forest. These lessons were never written in books. They were passed down through observation, experience and respect.

The mad Honey is only part of the story. The deeper inheritance is the understanding of nature. the patience to learn from it, and the wisdom to live alongside it.

As the world changes, some knowledge becomes more valuable than ever.

Because traditions survive not only when they are practiced, but when they are remembered, understood, and passed on.
