I feel... I dont even know how to feel right now.

Gaslit? By myself... ?

I think I may have spent the last several years blaming the wrong body part. 🤦‍♀️

A few years ago I had a microdiscectomy because a herniated disc was compressing my sciatic nerve. That's when my MRI showed just how messed up my lower back really is.

My surgeon told me then, "At some point, you're going to need an L5/S1 fusion." And basically told me that him and I will be seeing a lot of each other for the rest of life. My back is effed, to put it bluntly.

Ever since that conversation, I've just assumed the pain that keeps dropping me to the floor and rendering me useless for days was coming from that level of my spine.

A little over a year ago I was in a lot of pain and went back to him to see what we could do. He said he wanted to put it off but he would do it if he HAD to... but lets try some injections first. The injections didnt work, but i didnt follow up with him because I also wanted to try to put off the surgery.

Mom and Dad have reached the point where they're basically begging me to just have the surgery. But its not a quick and easy microdiscectomy like the last one.

A fusion is a pretty big and gnarly surgery. Days in the hospital. Months and months of physical therapy. Up to a year until youre "back to normal." And like 50% of the time it doesn't work or makes people worse. Truthfully, I'm scared as hell to do it, even though I know I cant go on like this.

So today I asked ChatGPT, "At what point do you KNOW you need an L5/S1 fusion?"
It asked me what my symptoms were. I explained where my pain is (shown in red on the picture) and how when its really bad I cannot put any weight on that left leg.

Its response was basically...
"Ummm... hey dummy... those aren't really L5/S1 fusion symptoms. If those are your main complaints, you probably shouldn't get that surgery. It sounds a lot more like your sacroiliac (SI) joint."

EXCUSE ME?!

I've spent years assuming all this pain was coming from my spine when it might actually be my SI joint causing most of the misery.

I'm definitely not diagnosing myself or taking AI advice over my doctor's. But it did make me realize I may have been connecting dots that don't necessarily go together. Looks like I need to have another conversation with my doctor.

The more I research it, my symptoms definitely align more with SI dysfunction than they do L5/S1.

And the good news... if it is, in fact, an SI issue, the surgery to fix that is minimally invasive. That sounds way better than a big gnarly spine surgery!

Has anyone here dealt with SI joint dysfunction? Did it feel like lower back pain that could drop you to the floor at any given moment?

My back is out... again.

So today's plans are murder shows and my ready-to-list book.

On a more serious note... has anyone here had an L5/S1 fusion? Or any spinal fusion, really?

My back has been a disaster for years. I know I need this surgery. My surgeon has told me I need this surgery. But he's also told me I'm too young to start fusing discs because once we start, it's going to continue up my spine one disc at a time.

I've put it off as long as I can, but lately I'm spending more days down than up. It feels like I'm hurting more often than I'm able to actually live my life. My mom and dad are basically begging me to have the surgery at this point because they're tired of watching me go through this.

I'd love to hear the good, the bad, and the ugly. Was it worth it? How was recovery? If you had to do it over again, would you?

Yesterday was bath day for Gomez. 🥹 Grandma still thinks I'm completely ridiculous, but she humors me anyway. She put his little robe on him after his bath and sent me a picture because she knows it makes me smile. I love that she does little things like that for me.

On another note... has anyone had firsthand experience with training aggression out of a dog?

My vet basically made it sound like it wasn't worth spending the money because cases like this usually don't get "fixed."

But a trainer in Minneapolis keeps showing up in my feed, and he claims to have successfully rehabilitated dogs with aggression that's much more severe than Gomez's.

I've already reached out to them and got some basic information. It would be expensive. Really expensive. But if it actually worked and Gomez could safely come home someday, it would be worth every penny. Grandma and Grandpa have already said they'd help with the cost if we decide to go that route.

I sent them a long message explaining Gomez's situation because it's a little different than what they usually show in their videos. He doesn't attack every dog he sees. He doesn't attack people. His aggression is very specific, unpredictable, and only directed at Vincent. You can't even make him do it on command because 99.9% of the time hes a perfect angel boy.

Whoever answered their messages this morning was incredibly kind. They said they could tell how much I love Gomez and Vincent, how I absolutely did the right thing even knowing it was the hardest thing, agreed that his case is different from the ones they usually work with, and said they were going to pass everything along to the owners/trainers so they could decide whether they think their training program could help and what approach they'd recommend.

So... now I wait.

Has anyone here gone through something similar? Did training help? I'd especially love to hear from people who dealt with dog-to-dog aggression within the same household.

Look at dat face. Dat is not the face of a killer!

Just saw this ad last night while doomscrolling, so I'm headed there today. Sure wish I'd seen it on July 9th instead!

I don't make it over there very often. It's kind of out of my way, and I've usually found it to be a little overpriced.

So I went to their page this morning to grab a screenshot of the ad for this post... and they only posted it one day ago. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Talk about terrible advertising!

If you're going to have a several week sale, maybe tell people before it's almost over?

Then I made the mistake of reading the reviews for our local store... yikes. 😬 They're not great.

Sounds like it used to be a solid store, but a lot of people say a new manager has really changed things for the worse.

Heres hoping I find something decent and dont catch this manager's attitude everyone comments about!

Finished A Toxic Love Story.

WOW.

What a rollercoaster. I'll avoid spoilers because they're already everywhere...

Just when you think the documentary is wrapping up and justice has finally been served **record scratch** wait... there's more.

My last relationship ended badly. I found out my lying, cheating w***e of an ex had been lying to me for six months and cheating on me for at least one. I bought her a vehicle when she was desperate and had no one else in the world to help her... and she used it to cheat on me. I loaned her large amounts of money I'll never get back. For months, everything out of her mouth was a lie. She was even lying to her 11 year old daughter. It was manipulative. Deceitful. Abhorrent. Trashy. Just plain ugly.

But it wasn't THIS.

Holy. S**t.

So I guess... thanks, Michelle, Angela, and Ian. 🤣 If I ever start replaying everything my ex did and let myself get worked up all over again, I'll just remember this documentary and think...

"Well... it definitely could've been worse."

Listed some hats yesterday.

Just because I'm That Reseller Chick with the Hat doesn't mean I'm some kind of hat expert. 😂 I know which ones I like to wear... that's about where my knowledge ends.

I picked up most of these earlier this summer at garage sales for $3 or less, and finally got around to listing them.

So... how'd I do?

ChatGPT and Google Lens says a few of them arent too shabby.

Coincidentally, the one is was going to toss in the trash might bring the most money. Apparently I know nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️ and thats why you look up EVERYTHING!

I have measurement photos on every single clothing item in my store.

Hundreds and hundreds of items

Well... every item except ONE.

Several months ago I was reading a thread where people were saying they don't do measurements, they do just fine, hardly ever get returns, and think about all the time they save.

So I got brave.

I was like, "Heck yeah! I'm done with measurements. Think of all the time I'll save... and how much less strain it'll put on my back."

That experiment lasted exactly one listing. It felt weird, so I went right back to taking measurement photos.

Guess which listing I just got a measurement request on this morning?

Yep. 🙄

So... who's Team Measurements and who's Team No Measurements?

07/22/2026

I need opinions...

The other day I was photographing shoes and pulled out one pair. The second I did, a smell smacked me in the face.

Now, what you should know about me... I have a ridiculously amazing sense of smell. I'm convinced the TSA should hire me.

Im actually seriously shocked I didnt notice the smell when I bought them, but I guess theres tons of smells assaulting my nose at the thrift and I must not have brought them close enough to my face lol

Anyway... So, like any rational reseller, I (very bravely) stuck my nose closer to the shoe to investigate. The smell is coming from one specific area on one shoe, and I think it's cat p*e. I don't own a cat, but that's the closest thing I can compare it to.

I washed the shoes. Let them dry in front of a fan. The smell is still there.

My mom, who also claims to have an incredible sense of smell, does not smell what I smell at all. She takes whiff and says she doesn't smell anything at all, just laundry detergent.... I bring that shoe anywhere near my face and Im gagging.

For context:
I paid $5
Sold comps for $25-$30ish

So what would you do?
• List them and assume most buyers not superhuman noses probably won't notice?
• List them, but disclose that one shoe has a faint odor that I can detect?
• Cut my losses and throw them away?

I'm curious where everyone draws the line on something like this.
