Throughout the month of September, any Tulia’s Artisan Gallery items sold at Gather will have 15% directly donated to the Maach Den Foundation, a Colombian nonprofit working with the Wounaan community on the ground.

Your purchase is a meaningful way to support these artisans and their communities as they work to rebuild from the August 10 earthquake.

What happened: The epicenter was just 85 miles away from the nearest Wounaan community. It literally tore open a gash in the earth in one of the villages. An estimated 50-75% of household structures are a total loss and uninhabitable. All the schools also fell. There were zero fatalities and only 2 injuries as a direct result of the quake. This is due to the fact that most structures were very humble raised platforms with metal roofs.

Initial and Ongoing Support: Colombia received an initial wave of food, clothing, and sanitary needs after the quake. The same lead artisans Tulia’s works with also run a Colombian non-profit called the Maach Den Foundation. Current fundraising will be ongoing to focus on health and rebuilding.

Chobis are the most labour-intensive of all of tribal carpets. Their colours range from soft muted tans and browns to rich coppers, deep maroons and sage greens.
