..375 Raptor Bear R***e...awesome rig, quick-handling and light, points well. With the suppressor providing weight at the muzzle, makes off-hand/standing shots quite steady. The AR set-up Burris LPVO/Red-Dot combo works great, very fast target acquisition. I've shot some quiet rigs, this is one of the quietest shooting subsonic ammo and virtually no recoil I've ever used; first shot I actually thought it misfired it was so quiet, really a pleasure to shoot. The client is going to let me know how it performs on bear, if efficient, I would say his plan for the ultimate WI Black Bear R***e a success...

...continuing with this Raptor....this is a Signature R***e, every part on it will get inspected, customized, fitted, polished and finished. All the steel will be Parkerized and Duracoated, the aluminum will be sandblasted and Duracoated. Little things like milling the bolt-shroud so when you put the pin through the firing pin/cocking-piece you don't ding the Duracoat, along with shimming the floorplate to strengthen it with custom made shims...finish work done correctly is time consuming and tedious and thus expensive...

...onward with the Raptor Bear R***e...for the Mini-Red-Dot above the main optic, we're going to machine a custom mount. I make these from a Leupold Steel PRWC ring. They're much sturdier than the store bought stuff and we can mill it so the window is just the right height above the elevation turret, makes a really slick set-up. You can keep your head up/eyes open for a snap shot using the Mini-Red-Dot or find your target with the dot and then drop slightly to your LPVO for more precision....

...continuing with this 375 Raptor....close quarter, thick cover r***e like this, client wanted a combo optic. Burris actually sells a decently priced AR Low Power Variable Optic with a Mini Red-Dot Combo, along with a canilever mount, that should work well. That's what we're going with, but to mount it lower where it should be for bolt-r***e, we'll mount it in Talley Rings with a custom made Red-Dot mount over-top....Talley Rings below, custom milled/shaped, lapped and marked for positioning....

...375 Raptor, Ultimate Black Bear...we're cutting this barrel at about 20". The client has a special suppressor he wants to run specifically for this caliber, it has a 5/8-24 direct thread so wit this light barrel we'll have to thread for a reducer at 9/16-24 with 5/8-24 male thread with a large fl**ge for the suppressor to shoulder to. We'll JB Weld this reducer on at the end. Also, with any fast-handling bolt-r***e, an oversized bolt-k**b is key, we're going to turn a custom k**b out of 3/4" aluminum bar-stock....

....375 Raptor build.....using an inexpensive polymer stock for this build, we're trying to keep the overall weight as light as possible, quick-handling, fast-target-acquisition r***e. I like to put Packmayr Trap Decelerator Pads on this type of gun, they have a hard-plastic insert at the top so you can quickly shoulder the r***e without snagging on your parka or whatever and you have an inch of rubber for recoil. To attach it solid, we're going to shape a piece of wood, epoxy it into the butt, cut the L.O.P where we want it and then install our grind-to-pad pad....

...continuing with this 375 Raptor build....with a caliber like this, we're going to remove the factory barrel, lap the bolt-lugs in and install the new .375 barrel without blueprinting. We also had to modify/open-up the feed ramp slightly to get these big slugs to feed properly, slightly adjust the follower spring and we did a slight cone-breech. We'll do an action smooth and field headspace....fairly simple to get this caliber to work with this standard Howa Short-Action, feeds and extracts perfectly, which was nice...

...new project...have a client lives up Northern WI, bear-hunter and works with bear outfitters up there. He wanted to build the ultimate thick-cover, close-quarters, quietest, black bear r***e. He came up with his own plan and I'm building it. Caliber is the .375 Raptor, shoots a subsonic 400gr bullet from a .308 case, included a picture next to a standard .223 round....using a Howa Short/Standard Bolt Face Barreled Action from Brownells, X-Caliber Barrel, Weatherby Polymer Stock and a Burris AR Scope/Red-Dot set-up...this is going to be cool.....

....every so often I'll do a project that's well outside my wheelhouse...did this custom "Stormtrooper" Paintwork on this Swedish TP9...neat little toy....

...always appreciate pictures from the field...client of mine hunting in Africa with his .280 Ackley Improved that I built for him a few years back, beautiful r***e and apparently still deadly accurate....which is what I like to hear!
