🌺 Summerade 🌺

Introducing Summerade, our newest tea blend!

This is a co-creation of Hayden and Lisa! It’s a refreshing and nourishing blend, perfect for summer hydration as a cooling iced tea, but it’s also delicious hot.

Summerade is made with hibiscus flowers, oat straw, lemon peel, nettle leaf, rosehips, and spearmint leaf.

Pick up some in our compostable zipper bags in person Wednesdays-Saturdays 11am-6pm and Sundays 11am-5pm, online anytime, or pick up an iced cup to go this week!

Did you know that we carry over 100 herbs, spices, and teas? Our specialty is herbs for wellness and herbal tea blends, but we also carry some common cooking herbs and spices 🌱

“Where Do You Get Your Herbs?”

This is a question we hear a lot in the shop! And our answer is usually some form of, “a lot of places”.

We’re not being vague on purpose - we really do get our herbs from a lot of places, and it’s always changing a little, so there is no direct answer!

I (Lisa 👋🏼) have been working with herbs for over 25 years (I know, how could it be that long 🥹👵🏼), and my experience over the years helps me evaluate the quality of herbs. Since the beginning of Alchemy & Herbs, I knew I wanted to source quality over anything else.

We source with a great deal of intention! Lots of work, time, care, money, and all of those years of experience I mentioned go into choosing the source for each and every herb/spice/tea that we carry. It’s not “one and done”! Our source for each herb is chosen individually.

A large amount of our herbs come to us directly from organic herb farms, mainly in Vermont, New York, and Oregon. We love to source directly from growers! With the rare exception, anything we can source direct from farms, we do source direct from farms.

Anything we can’t get directly from a farm comes from a short list of trusted distributors who source from organic farms internationally. These are mostly spices and Camellias, but also some flowers and herbs.

We compare herbs from different farms and/or distributors and choose the ones we think are the best. All of our sources are great! We especially love the herb farms we work with. But even between farms, and even though I’d recommend any of them to anyone, we still have our favorites from each.

We put in all of this effort because we love herbs and want to offer the best for you and for our tea blends (and also we get a little burst of joy when you notice the quality!), but we also do it to make it easy for you to get all the herbs you need in one place without having to do all the shopping around and experimenting yourself.

Another restock of everyone’s favorite cream deodorant! We have the four scents we carry year-round, plus:

🧡 Orange Vetiver (their summer seasonal scent) is back!

These deodorants are all-natural, including their scents, and come in little glass jars, and, most importantly, they really work! If you haven’t tried these before, we have a limited quantity of free sample packets. If you have tried these before, you’ve most likely become a regular user!

Little Seed Farm offers a refill option - we could get it in bulk and you could refill your jars instead of getting a new jar each time. Are you interested? Drop your favorite scent in the comments below and let us know if you want a refill option! We’d love to refill for you if there’s a demand!

Are you part of our Jar Club?

If not, it’s anyways a perfect time to join! To take part, all you have to do is bring in a container to refill 🌱🫙

Each time you fill a container, you get a “stamp”. Once you get ten stamps, you can take $5 off your next order or we can donate $5 to your choice of one of the organizations we support.

We even keep the card here, so you don’t have to remember to bring it (an idea I got from a coffeehouse I used to go to years ago)!

Last year we donated $160 to local groups, which is a lot of refills for a tiny shop! I wonder if we can double that this year?

Hibiscus Sour 🌺

This super fruity and sour tea makes an amazing iced tea! This is our standard “every day” iced tea during the summer months (get it to go in a compostable cup or byo cup), and you can also make it at home!

Brew it strong and hot, then add ice, or cold brew it overnight. It’s almost like a fruit punch, but without all the sugar. You can even use it as a cocktail base with some gine or vodka (that’s how this blend started!) or a mocktail with some sparkling water.

Hibiscus Sour is made with organic: hibiscus flowers, ginger, lemon balm, rosehips, and cinnamon.

Top 5 Tuesday ✨

These are our Top 5 best selling bulk/refill items (so, your Top 5)!

🫙 Humble Suds Laundry Powder - this has a subtle lemongrass scent that doesn’t stick to your clothes (so they just smell clean instead of perfumey like some store laundry detergents). You only use 1tbsp per average load, and it seems like it would be impossible for such a small amount to clean everything, but this is what Mike and I (Lisa 👋🏼) use at home and we have two dogs.

🫙 Opulent Blends Hand Soap - this is the perfect consistency for hand soap! It feels so good when it lathers, and it has a pleasant lavender spearmint scent (with essential oils of course, not fragrance oils)

🫙 Sal Suds - the classic all-purpose cleansing liquid! I don’t know what else to call it - it’s soap, but it’s for cleaning (unlike their more multi-purpose plain castile soap). Dilute it as needed for whatever you’re cleaning. It has a woodsy scent that can be sharp when not diluted, but smells nice and fresh. It works really well on oily residue! We’re currently enjoying this as a dish soap in the shop’s kitchen.

🫙 Humble Suds All Purpose Cleaner - like the other Humble Suds products we carry, this has a lemongrass blend scent that I’m personally obsessed with! It makes me want to clean things. This can be used for lots of things, but we most use it as a counter cleaner at my house.

🫙 Witch Hazel! - I had no idea this was in y/our Top 5 bulk/refills until today, and it makes me happy to see it here! This is distilled in New England from the Witch Hazel plant and contains the standard 14% grain alcohol. It’s certified organic! If you get a large amount, we can fill it out back for you so you don’t have to pump pump pump (this is also true for the bulk oils we carry)

Make your own all-natural icies with these silicone molds 🫐

Blend some fresh or frozen fruit with your liquid of choice, like juice, milks, yogurt, or even a fruity tea like Hibiscus Sour.
