The Figgy Tree Soap Company

The Figgy Tree Soap Company This Soap Company began as Trabue Bay in the quaint seaside community of Punta Gorda, FL., in 2013.

The Inspiration…
The inspiration for making homemade soap came from the many stories my mother would regale me with about the “good ‘ol days” and how all things that mattered and worked well were made at home with love and a little elbow grease. My mother once told me how they would mix wood ash with rendered animal fat and make a paste to bathe, clean pots, and wash their clothing with. She said

that the “soap” would not leave your hands or body feeling dry and tight like the commercial brands she now used. I tucked that little tidbit of info into my psyche and it was re-inspired during a trip to Tarpon Springs, FL... with my mothers inspiration, my knowledge of marketing, and obstacle blasting personality… here we are!

Living in the middle of 40 acres of orange trees has a way of resetting my nervous system 🌿🍊

When my head feels full or my thinking gets noisy, I do something simple and grounding. I work with what’s around me. Today that meant oranges—lots of them. I made a big batch of orange marmalade and filled the dehydrator with sliced oranges, the whole house smelling like citrus and warmth.

There’s something about using your hands, moving slowly, and turning what’s right in front of you into something nourishing. No urgency. No productivity hustle. Just peel, slice, stir, wait. The rhythm clears my thinking better than any to-do list ever could.

This is how I destress: quiet, sunshine, citrus, and letting my mind catch up with my body. 🍊

Lather that bubbles like laughter and light,
Scents that go drifting like snowflakes in flight.
Glycerin hugs and essential-oil cheer-
Handmade delights for this time of year.

When life gets messy, when stress takes wing,
I grab a soap and inhale deeply-oh what joy they bring!
Skin feels happy, my whole heart sings-
These are a few of my favorite things…

Today was a candle-making day at Figgy Tree. Emily brought me a stack of empty yogurt jars from her university campus, and you know me… I can’t throw away a perfectly good container. So these little clay jars have been given a new life as hand-poured candles. Everything has a purpose, sometimes more than one, and I love keeping beautiful things in circulation. I hope that when the candle is done, whoever takes one home finds another use for the jar and lets it keep telling its story.

Shredded soap bags are one of my favorite ways to give every last bit of a bar a second life. When I trim or bevel soaps, those soft curls and shreds don’t go to waste—they’re gathered, dried, and tucked into small muslin bags. Each muslin bag is filled with a soothing blend of rolled oats, a touch of plant-based glycerin, shreds of my cold process soap, and a hint of essential oil and shea.

When the bag is activated under warm water, the oats soften into a gentle cleanser, the soap shreds begin to lather, and the glycerin draws moisture to the skin. Shea adds a creamy slip, creating a soft, comforting wash that feels as good as it smells.

Use it directly on the skin like a wash pouch, or let it steep in the bath for a milky, aromatic soak. Hang to dry between uses and enjoy until the bag is fully spent.

It’s a simple, zero-waste indulgence—grounded, natural, and made with intention. Perfect for gifting, traveling, or treating yourself to a little everyday care.
