Thank all of you that have prayed for my brother Brice (Uncle Bud Cox) and our family.
It's hard to share in a few lines about the impact that a brother has on a brother. With all siblings there is usually a lot of memories. Some good, some bad. But ALL of them are precious!
Brice has now gone on to be with the Father. He left a major impact on our lives. He was a good man and you always knew where you stood with him and how he stood on various topics.
The most important one being that he believed in God through Jesus, His son. Of that I am certain and grateful.
One story I would like to share is why he was called Uncle Bud. In 1986 my oldest son was born. Brice was 16 and this would make him an Uncle for the first time. He told me that Uncle Brice just didn't sound right to him. And he asked if I would let my children call him Uncle Bud. 'Of course' was my response and that's what I called him the most from that point forward. My children grew up to love their Uncle Bud. He knew how to relate to them exactly where they were and they loved him for that.
As life moves on and I moved to Alaska, Bud and I didn't talk as much. With the distance being so far, this has unfortunately happened with many family members. But, in September of 2015 Bud moved to Alaska to help further the success of my shop, Hawk Shop. He stayed in Alaska till March of 2019. During that time we got to really know each other as adults. We shared many conversations, victories and lots of love. He helped me through a very trying time in my life. And I am very blessed that he and I got to spend so much time together during those years. Uncle Bud made many friends in Fairbanks during that time he spent here. After he left there were many times that people came into the shop to ask about him.
I haven't told many people this, but Uncle Bud, my son Andrew and I were even interviewed 3 times by a TV production company to do a reality TV show about our pawn shop in Alaska. The contact from the production company was partly based on commercials that we did together. Like the one in this post. I will be sharing some of these over the next week.
One of the things I am going to miss the most about my brother and friend is the conversation. With Bud the conversations were rich and honest.
I Love You Brother and always will!
