Roy Ernest snapped this picture of me sitting at an intersection on Geist. I never get pictures of myself on these Trike other than selfies so it’s interesting to see. This is the VTX so you have a very low wind profile. My favorite try to ride in the summertime on pavement. It’s very light, half the weight of an E-Trike and very fast.

 No electric assist and a rigid frame with without suspension.

Handtrike arm after a couple months. Started out doing a quarter of a mile every other day. I’m up to about 10 miles, although I only do it every second or third day to give my shoulders some time to recover.

There is a new toy in the Trike Alaska collection.

This is the Inspired Cycle Engineering hand cycle. I am told there are about 20 in the world as they have just been recently introduced.

It is designed for paraplegics.

But I think it’s a great tool if you want to build upper body strength.

Took it out for its first test ride this morning and it was an absolute blast. E assist so I could go out my pretty steep driveway without any problem. It has a Shimano EP8 motor and Shimano five speed electrically shifted rear hub.

If you know a paraplegic that needs one of these, please pass it on. If you just want to give it a try to consider the benefits of upper body exercise give a shout and come by for a test ride.

I sold this ICE Adventure trike to Larry Mitchell, one of my customers in Fairbanks. He rode it as his primary trike every day for a few years and then sold it to Michael Carey in Anchorage. Today Michael turned 10,000 miles on it! A testament to the quality and durability of ICE trikes and a commitment to ride regularly.

Michael and Larry both have many other trikes they, their kids and their grandkids are putting miles on as well. At last count, I think Larry told me he has nine trikes in his garage (including a few non-ICE trikes for his grandkids) and Michael has six I think.

And that is Kuska patiently, waiting to get on the ride and Michael’s motivation to go every morning!

Thank you to everyone who came by the outdoor show at the Carlson Center over the weekend. We had lots of interested folks and good conversations.
