Good morning! I hope this finds you staying cool 😎 We went to a garage sale last week and I found this birdhouse. It was broken as the base had come unglued. I screwed the base back on and gave her some new details with finger paints and here she is! What do you think? She will be part of the front yard with all of the plants. All that is left is clear spray paint to protect the paint and help with fading. Most people would just throw it away or at least would not buy it. I guess I have always thought anything that is broken is always fixable with a little love whether that be an item, a person, a town, a country..... Love is such a healer of things! I love you if you need to hear that today and so does God.

Good afternoon! I got some new stone pendants made today! I glued bails on to them. Some of the bails are metal and others are clear plastic so you can't see them through the stone. I made one for myself and thought I would share that one as well. I love the long elongated stone because it shows much more of its natural beauty ❣️ I hope you have an amazing day!

We had a very full but wonderful day! We started the day off by going to the Fairbury Greenhouse 😁, we then headed to Sunrise Bakery in Beatrice, then went to the Bargain Box 😊 & also dropped a few things off. Then we went to Vintage Sisters LLC . Doug took them some doughnut holes ❣️ I know right how sweet! I got a cute perfume bottle which I saw on their video and also a beautiful abalone shell necklace. She comes to Fairbury and shops and we go there and shop (mutual support for each other plus what lovely ladies). From there we headed to Lincoln to go to Hobby Lobby but to my surprise we ended up at My Sister and Me Vintage Treasures. I found the cutest little vintage potholders for our kitchen. Then we were off to Hobby Lobby for some 4th of July boxes (thanks Evelynn Kapke 😎 for the idea) and I found a minecraft pez dispenser as well! Everything was at the front of the store so we got what was on the list after eyeing a few things and we were done. Can you believe it less than $20 that is unheard of for me and Hobby Lobby 🀣 Then we headed to Canes Chicken πŸ˜‹ for a late lunch early supper. Doug suggested or asked how about Hidden Gems, you want to go? Well of course I do 🀩 . We found the coolest sphere! We each picked it up. I went over to Doug and said did you see this sphere and he said I just got done picking that one up. I then knew we needed it so yep I bought it πŸ˜€ Then off to Walmart because I found some very comfortable under garments and shorts that our local Walmart did not carry and neither did Beatrice Walmart. What a wonderful day! We always have such a wonderful time together even when we aren't spending money 🀣 How was your day! Did you do anything fun?

I hope this finds you doing well πŸ˜πŸ™‚πŸ™ƒ and having an amazing day. There are only two prayer quilts left out of the 15 that...

Do you carry one?

Have an amazing weekend!

Did you know****

Fabric softeners can negatively impact your health by coating clothes in chemicals that release respiratory irritants, allergens, and endocrine disruptors. Residues can clog pores, trigger acne and eczema, while the synthetic fragrances and VOCs released through dryer vents are known to cause headaches and asthma flare-ups.

Common chemical concerns and their effects on wellness include:

Quaternary Ammonium Compounds ("Quats"): Used to soften fibers, these chemicals are strongly linked to skin irritation and respiratory distress, and can trigger asthma attacks.

Synthetic Fragrances & Phthalates: Fragrances often contain phthalates, which are classified as endocrine disruptors that can interfere with your hormonal system. They are also common culprits for neurological symptoms like "brain fog" and headaches.

Preservatives: Many softeners use preservatives like methylisothiazolinone or trace amounts of formaldehyde to extend shelf life, which act as potent skin allergens.

In addition to health concerns, fabric softeners leave waxy, petroleum-based residues that reduce the absorbency of towels and ruin the moisture-wicking properties of activewear.

Safer Alternatives:To maintain the soft, fresh feel of your laundry without the harsh chemical load, try these natural swaps:

Distilled white vinegar: Add a half cup to your rinse cycle to soften fabrics naturally without leaving residue.

Wool dryer balls: Toss 3-6 of these into the dryer to naturally separate clothes, reduce static, and cut down drying time.

Essential oils: If you miss the fresh scent, add a few drops of pure essential oil (like lavender or eucalyptus) to a damp washcloth and throw it in the dryer.

Did you know****
Fabric softener causes towels to stink. It coats cotton fibers in a waxy, water-resistant film that traps bacteria, body oils, and musty moisture. Over time, this residue ruins absorbency and produces a sour odor that gets worse every time the towel is used or damp.

Why Fabric Softener Causes Odor

It creates a buildup: Softeners leave a waxy, oily residue on fabrics instead of washing completely away.

It traps bacteria: The film acts like a magnet for body oils and bacteria, locking them deep inside the towel threads.

It hides the problem: The heavy perfumes in softeners cover up the odor initially, making you unaware of the bacteria multiplying underneath.

How to Strip and Restore Your Towels

If your towels already smell musty, you need to remove the chemical buildup using common household pantry items:

The Vinegar Wash: Run the towels on a hot water cycle with 1 cup of white vinegar instead of detergent. This breaks down the waxy fabric softener and detergent residue.

The Baking Soda Wash: Run a second hot water cycle with \(\frac{1}{2}\) cup of baking soda to neutralize lingering odors.

Dry Thoroughly: Ensure the towels are completely dry before folding, as even slightly damp towels will immediately breed new odors.

Better Laundry Alternatives

Experts consistently recommend swapping out liquid fabric softeners to maintain fresh, absorbent towels:

For Softness: Add \(\frac{1}{2}\) cup of white vinegar directly to the fabric softener dispenser in your washer.

For Fluffiness: Use wool dryer balls in the dryer instead of chemically-laden dryer sheets, which leave the same waxy residue.
