About Me and How A&M Dream Links was born:
Guess it is time to let you all know a little bit about myself and how A & M Dream
Links was born. I am a midwestern girl now living on the east coast. I have always had a fascination with Medieval Times, Fantasy, Knights and especially horses. As a child I had over 100 statues of horses in my room. I loved all my horse statues and my family always made sure I got one on every special occasion. Only bad thing about having all of them......dusting! Oh I used to dread when my mama would hand me the dust rag and tell me to clean my room. BUT it actually gave me time to admire them all over again :) As I got older I was introduced to Renaissance Festivals and was able to enjoy attending the Kansas City Renfest every year when I lived there. What better way to see first hand my love of horses and medieval times!! When I moved here to VA I found out that there was a festival in Maryland and we HAD to go!! Ever since then my husband and I have enjoyed being regular faire goers at Maryland and Virginia. Back in 2009 my husband bought me a chain maille bikini top. I thought it was amazing that a bikini could be made from rings! Well due to my love of food and the fact that I still wanted to be able to wear this chain maille I decide to try and make a pretty belly cover for it. So I looked up how to's online and bought rings from The Ring Lord and learned the basic 4 in 1 weave. I loved doing this so much that I decided to make myself a split skirt as well. Once my daughter saw all this she decided she wanted a chain maille bikini. So back to The Ring Lord I went and bought the tutorial on how to make them. Many thanks by the way to Jodey Hathaway of Bike Part Jewelry for this fabulous top design and for sharing and allowing the tutorial to be sold by The Ring Lord! As I went along with my projects I posted a few photos on facebook and many of my friends kept telling me “you should try making jewelry!” So I decided to try that as well and it just went to town. I've learned many different types of weaves and how to incorporate chains, stones and beads. But there are so many weaves out there that I have only touched the tip of the iceberg with them so I will continue to strive for more learning as I LOVE THIS! I like the fact that I can take a masculine type item such as chain maille and make it into something so feminine and pretty. My friends wanted to see more and more so I made more and more!! :) My husband told me I should turn this into a business so I started trying to think of a name for it. I thought for weeks, till one day it hit me. I decided to name my business after my sweet mama and two grandmothers. They are all amazing, wonderful women who have always been there for me and taught me to always strive for my dreams. My mama has so many talents in her own way as did my beautiful grandmothers. They have helped me in so many ways and I know they will always be there for me. So that my friends is how A & M Dream Links came about. Thank you for taking the time to read this short novel :)
