Registan Photophore (Progress Report)
Cameron Conway (author & professor) says, “If pain is a pot of boiling water, humor can be the rising steam”. This connection between humor/creativity and pain is so well known that in one way or the other, poets around the world ask, “What pain are you covering up with that smile ?”.
Seen here are two versions of our Registan Rock Crystal Photophores. Some will see sheer beauty (a very valid observation); But others will look beyond the beauty and see labor, toil, and turbulence behind the creation.
The process starts with the search for the appropriate stone. Bottom Right is Registan Rock Crystal Photophore made with 90% clarity stone. Top Right is made with 60% clarity stone. Same stone, but different clarity translates into different price points. Finding Rock crystal with just 30 to 50 % clarity is relatively easy, thereafter the search is exhausting (it is all about sweet patience).
Once the stone is found (video on the left), carving & chiseling it into the end product without damaging the stone is another painful battle. A lot of individual efforts coalesced into making of this one fixture.
I hope you like you.
