At major auto shows, manufacturers often unveil concept cars. These vehicles are not built for immediate production. They exist to explore new possibilities, challenge conventions, and advance the craft.
At Oxshott Collection, we follow a similar philosophy.
Much of our research and development never reaches the marketplace. We invest countless hours working with designers, materials, techniques, and forms, not because a product is ready to sell, but because the pursuit of excellence teaches us how to create something better tomorrow. This process is demanding, time-consuming, and often invisible. Yet it is the engine that drives our growth.
Today, we are pleased to share one such project.
Introducing the Palermo Photophore in our Diamond Shade (regular size).
We believe it is beautiful. We also believe it is not finished.
The piece is currently on display in our showroom. However, despite the progress represented here, we have no plans to move it into production. The reason is simple: we are not yet satisfied.
While this version captures much of what we envisioned, it still falls short of our ultimate objective. Further refinements are needed. In fact, we may ultimately abandon this approach entirely and pursue a different path.
Some would argue that perfection is the enemy of good.
Our response is equally simple.
As production has become increasingly driven by scale and efficiency, much of the artistry that once defined this category has been lost. We have no interest in creating just another product. Our ambition is greater than that.
We want to help revive a forgotten standard of excellence.
When the Palermo is finally ready, we do not want it to be merely admired. We want it to make people stop, look again, and recognize that something extraordinary has been achieved.
Until then, the work continues.
