Norma made this beautiful quilt by Riley Blake fabrics. She chose Stars in PS1 designs and mocha thread by Glide. Quilted on my HQ Forte. Norma added the gold around the center which I think makes the quilt. Great job Norma!

Using templates to mark a design. The multi circle template by Handi Quilter and a blue water away pen. Free motion flower inside the Dresden plate.

Quilting sashing the easy way! I measure the center of the sashing and line up the HQ Flipped Curve Ruler and go up and back down creating the egg and dart design.

HQ Echo foot to go around an appliqué is a simple and quick way to fill a background.

Finally started! I used my HQ Echo foot to go around the outside of Dresden plate. Then I used the HQ circle template to draw my circle for my free motion flower inside. Whew! Once it’s loaded it will get quilted!

Dresden plate quilt with sashing and cornerstones. I chose Bahama Sand in the Omni (love the name) and So Fine #521 for the bobbin. Why the color? Because the peach goes with the center of the plate and the cornerstones. Why the weight? 50 wt in the bobbin so I do not have to change as often. I will use 40 wt for the top to see the quilting. Personal preference here- if a show quilt I would use the thinner thread 50 wt. Most quilter would use White thread but I am going for a more modern twist. Can’t wait to bring this quilt alive! Superior Threads
