A Family Business Continues In Fairview for Over One Hundred YearsAl D Landscaping and Tree Service was originally founded by the late Joseph and Philomena Pangione. They were one of the first family's to settle in Fairview. In 1894, they established Pangione's Florist and Greenhouses located at 100 Broad Avenue in Fairview.Many years later after WWII, their eldest son Albert Pangione followed his
father's footsteps and continued the family business. As time went on it included Al's siblings, Charlie, John, Mike, Mary and Jose. The business expanded to the outside and began to include gardening and maintaining grave plots in local cemeteries.In the mid 1970's Al Pangione's nephew Albert Demuro became increasingly involved in the business and eventually took it over. He then moved the company to his family's house 178 Sedore Avenue. Albert then changed the focus to a landscaping and tree services company then adding the seasonal business of Christmas trees and grave covers. This change was to accommodate the trend of professional maintenance of private property. He then found an increasing need for both planting and removal of trees, as the economy and real estate markets flourished in the 1980's and 90's.In 2003, Al purchased the lot adjacent to the family property located at 174 Sedore Ave. In its current location, Al D landscaping and Tree Service Incorporated offers a wide range of services to their customers, from property maintenance to complete tree care needs. In addition, they also provide snow removal services and have expanded the seasonal goods located on premises. In order to fully meet the diverse requests of his customers, Al attended Bergen Community College to acquire a certification as a Professional Landscape Technician.As a strong community minded citizen, business owner and lifelong resident of Fairview, Al felt compelled to give back to the community. He felt the best way to obtain this goal was to be an integral part of the group of citizens and business owners organizing, obtaining and finally building a new 9-11/Police Memorial Park in August of 2011.At present, Al D Landscaping and Tree Service still remains a family business. Currently his brother-in-law Vincent Romano, his wife Sheryl and his four children Albie, Theresa, Brian and Rachel, all participate in the business. Al D Landscaping and Tree Service Inc. at present holds a five star business rating with The Better Business Bureau and has also received high recommendations on Angie's List from customer referrals. It is licensed with the State of New Jersey Consumer Affairs. He is also a member of the New Jersey Landscape Contractors Association and The National Arborist Association.
