November 3rd let your voice be heard! Vote NO on 8! When you buy recreational cannabis from a dispensary there is a 10.75% state excise tax and up to a 3% local sales tax that local municipals implement. By doing this, we are able to have the cannabis control commission which oversees the industry and ensures safe practices and strict regulations are being followed keeping consumers safe. The local tax allows your town or city to have extra funding for local budgets. Municipal budgets are what fund essential public services such as roadways, waste management, sewer and water, culture and recreation, public safety (police & fire protection), and education. Medical ma*****na is just as important, but it is tax exempt, meaning all of this extra funding being allocated to important causes will be diminished if we lose recreational cannabis.
