We regret to announce that the Falls Church Compleat Strategist will be closing its doors.

In August 1982, Strategy & Fantasy World became one of The Compleat Strategist’s most beloved locations. For nearly 40 years we have been a part of the local gaming community in Falls Church and it has been our pleasure to serve this vibrant gaming community. Now, due to circumstances beyond our control, we are closing the Falls Church Compleat Strategist store. Our final day of operations at 103 East Broad Street will be Sunday, January 23, 2022. We will be holding a Location Closing Sale. All merchandise in the store will be 50% off from January 3, 2022 – January 23, 2022. We will share more information about the sale in the coming days.

The closing of our Falls Church store is necessitated by the repurposing of the building at 103 East Broad Street. We will not be moving our store, but our other locations in New York City and King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, continue to thrive and will remain in operation.

We have enjoyed being an important part of the gaming community in Falls Church, and we hope to continue to service the area through our remaining locations and online.

Just an update for those who might be interesting in the 'Fate of Konor' Day 1 event; originally the event was mistakenly set to 6PM start time. Its supposed to start at Noon and end at 6PM, and we've updated the event accordingly. Our bad!

We'll be hosting a Star Wars Destiny Prerelease for the new set at 1PM tomorrow. Bring your Spirit of Rebellion and Ironclad Imperial Will and battle against your friends in this popular Dice and Card game of luck and skill.

The event has a $10 entry fee. You can either bring your own deck or purchase one of our Starter Packs.

Tonight's draft night at the Compleat Strategist! Because I found a small cashe of old product, we are mixing it up tonight! Old schemes and even the dead king himself are making a reappearance as every entry will receive one Conspiracy pack, and two Conspiracy: Take the Crown packs.

Entry is the same price at $15 and we get started at 6:30! Remember to come early for casual games and to plot to kill your enemies together!

Like the Postal Service, Friday Night Magic operates rain, sleet, snow, and shine. This is admittedly due to the fact that I can walk there. No promises on whether the store will be open, but I will be there between 5:30 and 6 regardless to get events set up!

Hey everyone!

As many of you may have heard, a store in the area was recently reported for allowing proxies at unsanctioned Magic: the Gathering legacy events. In their message, Wizards of the Coast clarified and reviewed their policy on the usage of proxies: namely, that they are not allowed in any form, whether or not the tournament is sanctioned, and whether or not they are passed off as authentic Wizards property. This is due to copyright laws, for those who are curious!

As such, we are suspending our non-sanctioned proxy tournaments until further notice. We have run these events in the past as educational, fun ways to allow players who may not otherwise be able to engage in Eternal Formats (legacy, vintage, etc) to be able to play the exciting, old, expensive cards that they (and even we!) can't afford. Unfortunately, copyright laws trump our desire for fun in this case. So, The Compleat Strategist is Officially Not Allowing Proxies At All as of today.

If WotC changes their policy in the future, you can rest assured that we'll continue running those events. However, in the meantime, we have an obligation to follow the rules. We're always seeking new ideas for fun and educational ways to engage our player base. So, if you have any ideas for new Magic events (that don't break Wizards rules, of course) feel free to comment or shoot us a message!
