Mary's Appliance

Mary's Appliance Mary’s Appliance has been in existence since May 1, 1993 when the Sears Catalog Stores closed across the US.

Mary had been the local Sears Merchant for 26 years here in Falls City and had built a reputation of taking care of her customers far beyond the Sears policies. She had become an avid promoter of Falls City and had developed a great love of the community so it was only natural that she would continue selling Appliances after Sears left. The customer base did not let her down and 20 years later Mar

y’s is the largest Appliance business in the three state corner. Supported by Jeff Martineau and Kenny Strathman, dedicated salesmen, who share the belief that customer satisfaction is the most important part of the job and backed by a service center, run by Marty Elwonger, to service after the sale. Installation and Delivery services provided by Paul Nave, Calvin Puckett, and Phillip Hitchcock will take care of installing, instruction, and haul away of your old appliances. Jamie Strathman will offer you a major part extended warranty and do some of the mounds of paperwork required. Clearly Mary’s Appliance is a team effort by 9 employees who take pride in customer service. Mary’s Appliance is a member of Brand Source, a small merchant buying group, which provides them the edge to compete with the big box stores and chains in the cities to keep prices competitive, thus keeping you at home. If you have window shopped at a big box store, bring your list into Mary’s and see if they can match the prices and keep your money circulating in our city and not out of town. Mary’s closes almost 97% of those transactions, sometimes we beat the prices, so you can see we are competitive. Mary’s offers nearly 250 appliances in stock with name brands such as GE, Maytag, Amana, LG, Café, Bosch, Samsung, Frigidaire, and most other market players. Mary’s Service Department is also a warranty provider for all major brands and was just awarded a Whirlpool’s High Honor award for customer satisfaction. Marty Elwonger stays current with schooling and monthly web training to provide today’s service knowledge when he makes your call. Mary’s also carries a huge parts inventory so if you are a DIY and just need a part, bring your model number in and let us provide your part to you. IF we do have to order, most parts are only 2-3 days out. Mary Whitehouse has served in numerous community leadership roles including, 4-H leader, Girl Scout Leader, Girls Athletic Coach at Sacred Heart, State, & Regional Chairman of Bd. American Heart, National Board positions, Chairman of the Board of Chamber, Economic Development Committee, State Retail Assn. Board Member, Member of Nebraska’s Navy, Edge Member, Creation of the Mini Park, Cobblestone Chairman, Member of Dog Park Committee, Plus many others over the years and still serving on committees, boards and other Chamber and community needs. Heading events today such as the revival of the Hot Air Balloon Festival this fall. Mary is now 72 years into life’s journey and has, as most do, hit a bump or two. Still working a 5 day week, but not on the sales floor now. Since standing is not an option, she has relegated herself to her desk doing paperwork and being able to interact with customers while her employees and Grandson Kenny Strathman are making sure the business will carry on.

Here's something worth knowing before you buy a new appliance: finish matters more than you think. 🖤✨

Black stainless, matte black, and traditional stainless all look great but they each show fingerprints, smudges, and wear differently depending on how your kitchen gets used.

If you have kids or cook often, it's worth asking about finishes before you decide. 🥘

This is what June is all about. 🔥☀️

Teaching someone you love the art of the grill, a warm afternoon, and the smell of something good cooking outside.

What's the first thing you throw on the grill when summer officially kicks off? 🍔🌭

A clean kitchen is great. A kitchen that's set up to actually work for you is even better. 🍳

One thing people overlook: your range hood or over-the-range microwave filter needs to be cleaned or replaced regularly.

Grease builds up fast and most people don't realize it until airflow becomes a real problem. ❌

Most appliances tell you when something's off. You just have to know what to listen for. 👂

🔸 Refrigerator running louder than usual? Could be dusty condenser coils.
🔸 Washer vibrating a lot? Often just a leveling issue.
🔸 Dishwasher leaving spots? Usually a low rinse aid situation.

A lot of common "problems" have really simple fixes. 🛠️

A clean kitchen at the end of a long day is honestly one of the most underrated feelings. 🧼✨

Counters wiped, dishes done, everything in its place. It's a small reset that makes the next morning feel so much better.

What's your end-of-day kitchen routine?

Spring cleaning tip you didn't know you needed: pull your dryer away from the wall and check the vent hose. 🌀

A clogged or kinked dryer vent doesn't just slow down drying time, it's actually one of the leading causes of household fires. A quick check once a year goes a long way. 🏡🔥

Gas vs. induction cooktop: what's actually the difference? 🔥⚡

- Gas: instant visible flame, works during power outages, compatible with all cookware
- Induction: heats the pan directly (not the surface), faster boiling times, easier to clean, more energy efficient

Neither is wrong, it really comes down to how you cook and what matters most to you. Which team are you on? Let us know in the comments! 👇
