THROWBACK THURSDAY!!!

A custom piece that came full circle. 🤎

Years ago, this customer found a one-of-a-kind buffet in our showroom and brought it home for their living room.

When they decided the space needed a coffee table, they came back to JR to create something custom that would complement the piece they already loved.

JR built this solid ash coffee table to feel like it had always belonged there—keeping the natural character of the wood front and center, from that wild grain in the top to the live edge and chunky ash base.

One of the best parts of custom woodworking? Adding pieces to a home over time that work together without ever feeling like a matching furniture set.

Workshop Wednesday throwback 🪵

Going back to 2021 when I had the chance to be featured in Fallston Neighbors and share a little about how JR’s Timeless Treasures got started.
I’ve always liked working with my hands, finding old pieces, figuring out how things are made, and turning an idea into something someone can actually use. What started with buying and selling at flea markets eventually turned into a store, woodworking, and more custom projects than I probably ever imagined I’d build.

A lot has changed around here since this article came out, but I’m still doing what I love — building, creating, learning as I go, and seeing what I can make out of the next piece of wood.
Pretty cool to look back at where it started and see where we are now.

Throwback Tuesday 🦌

JR’s work goes far beyond tables, charcuterie boards, and mantles!

Throwing it back to this custom cherry Euro mount. The natural character and rich tones of the cherry made the perfect backdrop for a piece that was already meaningful to its owner.
JR especially loves these unique custom jobs—the ones that give him a chance to think outside the box and help customers showcase their own passions, interests, and stories through woodworking.

🐾 Happy Gotcha Day to our frisky shop cat, Leo!

Back in 2020, we found a tiny kitten who somehow made his way into our lives—and very quickly made himself at home. What started with one little stray turned into six years of Leo being part of just about everything.

He grew up around the shop, supervised plenty of JR’s projects, claimed more than a few pieces of furniture as his own…and then watched our family grow too. ❤️ From being our baby to meeting our baby and growing right alongside him, Leo has been there through so many chapters.

If you’ve been around JR’s for a while, chances are you’ve seen Leo make an appearance—or been personally inspected by management. 😂

Here’s to six years with the little kitten who found us. Happy Gotcha Day, Leo! 🐾🪵

🌳 WOOD TYPE MONDAY: Sycamore Through the Years

If you guessed Sycamore from today’s clues, here’s a look at just how versatile this wood can be!

JR has worked with sycamore on quite a few projects over the years—from large live-edge dining tables and custom countertops to built-ins and matching chair seats. And one of our favorite things about looking back at these pieces is seeing just how different the same species can look.

Depending on the particular lumber, sycamore can range from warm golden tones to deeper reddish-browns, with everything from subtle grain to some seriously eye-catching figuring. 🪵

And we’re not done with sycamore yet… 👀

🌳 WOOD TYPE MONDAY — Can you guess this one?

This week’s tree has a few pretty recognizable clues… 👀

🍃 Large, maple-like leaves
⚪ Round, fuzzy seed balls
🌳 And probably its biggest giveaway—a trunk with naturally peeling, camouflage-like bark

Have your guess before the reveal?

Despite being a relatively soft hardwood, this species can produce some seriously beautiful lumber. Its natural coloring ranges from creamy white and light tan to warmer reddish-brown tones, but the grain is where things get really interesting. It can have an interlocking grain with distinctive flecking and figuring, especially depending on how it’s cut.

It’s one of those species that can look fairly unassuming standing in the lumber pile—and completely different once JR starts working with it.
