Never Forget. Honoring through remembrance and action. 🇺🇸

On September 11, our nation observes Patriot Day and National Day of Service and Remembrance. Formally recognized under federal law (36 U.S.C. § 144) and coordinated through AmeriCorps, this day honors the 2,977 innocent lives lost and pays tribute to the heroic first responders, military personnel, and everyday citizens who stepped forward in humanity’s darkest hour.

Americorps and federal agencies encourage Americans across the country to participate in local service projects, volunteerism, and acts of kindness in memory of those we lost.

At AKA The Bunker, we stand with our community, our military veterans, and local first responders. Let us honor the fallen by standing united and giving back.

🐎 Hero Spotlight: The Horse Named Staff Sergeant Reckless

Did you know one of America’s greatest war heroes was a horse? 🇺🇸

Purchased at a Korean racetrack in 1952 for $250 by the U.S. Marine Corps' Recoilless R***e Company [00:49], Sgt. Reckless became a legend during the Korean War [00:31].

During the fierce 1953 battle for Outpost Vegas, she made 51 solo trips across open rice paddies and steep hills, hauling over 9,000 lbs of am******on through intense enemy artillery fire [01:16]. Despite being wounded twice, she kept going—even shielding four Marines on her way to the front lines [01:34]!

Her bravery earned her a promotion to Staff Sergeant [02:04] and a place among Life Magazine’s 100 Greatest American Heroes [00:09].

Check out her incredible story here: https://youtu.be/pD-F_zajPlk
