Many people have asked about the Charlie Brown Book Sale that is held every year. And as you probably know, it is the largest fundraiser for the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. Vandergriff was unable to have the sale this year for several different reasons. Don’t give up and hang on to your good used books. I am hoping that next year Vandergriff can again support the sale as well as some other elementary schools. Another school has already shown interest. The fundraiser provides a learning experience of community fundraising, summer reading material for the children, and much needed donations for the animal shelter. We raised between $3500-$6250 for many years. The Fayetteville Animal Shelter will miss this valuable donation. Please consider making a donation to the shelter to fill in the gap. The annual Charlie Brown Used Children and Adult Book Sale will be held at Vandergriff Elementary School on May 3rd, 4th, and 5th. The community is welcome. Please drop your gently used books off to donate to the sale. No textbooks or magazines please. All proceeds are donated to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. The proceeds in past years have averaged between $3,500-$6,200. Please help the homeless animals by participating in the collection of books and attendance to the sale.

Thank you to all of the people that supported the book sale this year. On one hand, I was a little disappointed because we didn't raise as much money as we have done in the past. But then I realized that we lost the 5 fifth grade classes to the middle school. It made a big difference. The book sale has never gone smoother with so many volunteers including Justine and Tony from the shelter. Also, the Vandergriff students helped so much and got so involved. OUR FINAL COLLECTION was $4,000.00. With permission from Justine Lentz, we are taking $500.00 of this donation and giving it to Washington County Animal League. The Animal League helps all of the shelters as well as saving the 300 dogs from the puppy mill. Thank you for all of the support to the homeless animals. Please continue to support this important cause.

It is time for the Annual Charlie Brown Book Sale. It has been set for May 4th, 5th, and 6th at Vandergriff Elementary School. Please drop off your gently used children and adult books to the office of the school or send them with Vandergriff students. Every year the children collect used books and the sale is held in May. Children's books are sold for 50 cents and adult books are sold for $1.00. All proceeds are donated to the local animal shelter. Last year, over $5,250 was donated to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. The public is invited to collect gently used books for donating as well as attend the book sale on May 4th, 5th, and 6th. Please help this important fundraiser in our community. This year the sale is held in memory of the loved dog, Charlie Brown.

The sale is at Vandergriff Elementary School. Hours are 7:30-6:00 on May 19th, 20th, and 7:30-3:00 on May 21st. Children's books are 50 cents and adult books are $1.00. In the past 4 years we have raised $22,000.

Don't forget to attend the Charlie Brown Book Sale on May 20th, 21st, and 22nd at Vandergriff Elementary School. Hours will be 7:30AM until 6:30PM. All children's books are 50 cents and adult books are 50 cents to $1.00. All proceeds will be donated to the Fayetteville Animal Shelter. The public is invited. There is an amazing selection of books for all ages. Everyone is a winner. You can get great summer reading as well as help our homeless pets.
