Why Are People Using Perilla for Alpha-Gal?

Perilla isn't being used just because it's an anti-inflammatory herb. Researchers have found that it may affect the same parts of the immune system that cause allergic reactions. This may explain why many people with alpha-gal are reporting improvements after using perilla tinctures.
Here's how alpha-gal works:
A tick bite can cause your body to make alpha-gal IgE antibodies. These antibodies attach to immune cells called mast cells. Later, when you eat mammal products like beef, pork, venison, dairy, gelatin, or foods containing alpha-gal, those mast cells can release histamine and other chemicals that cause an allergic reaction.
Perilla leaf contains natural compounds, including rosmarinic acid and other plant chemicals, that research suggests may:
Make mast cells less likely to release histamine.
Help reduce histamine and inflammation.
Calm an overactive allergic immune response.
Lower some of the immune signals involved in allergies.
Reduce the inflammation that keeps allergic reactions going.
Because of this, perilla may help in two ways.
At first, it may simply make allergic reactions less likely or less severe, even if alpha-gal antibodies are still present. Over time—especially if you avoid getting more tick bites—the immune system may become less reactive as alpha-gal antibody levels naturally decline.
This could explain why some people say they don't just have fewer symptoms while taking perilla. Some report that they can eventually eat foods that once caused reactions, even after they've stopped using the tincture. If that continues, it may mean the immune system has become less sensitive, rather than the herb only blocking histamine.
There has not yet been a human clinical trial proving that perilla treats alpha-gal. However, what scientists know about how perilla works matches many of the immune processes involved in alpha-gal, and the growing number of personal success stories suggests this herb deserves further research.
Important: This information refers to perilla leaf, not perilla seed or perilla seed oil. Perilla seeds can cause allergic reactions in some people.

I've had several messages on my thoughts for the upcoming election.
Here is the live video from 105.5 WYTM Country this past Thursday.
The following is a comment that was shared to help clear up some local misinformation.
With early voting open, I would just like to share the live video of the forum from Thursday evening in case you weren’t able to attend OR if you are questioning information circulating. You know the kind that when you hear it you think ‘hmm..surely that’s not right…right?’
It’s sad that people take what they read or hear on social media as the truth. And that people continue to spread that misinformation. I’m posting the link to the video so you can see it for yourself. You can see, the actual, unedited, non Ai tampered video. Make your decisions from that. I’ll give you a couple of times from it if you’d like to skip ahead, but I encourage you to watch the whole thing because I enjoyed seeing each candidate speak. Especially the mayoral candidates.
As for the misinformation….
If you skip ahead to 1:27:50, you’ll have the sheriff candidates entering the stage.
Then, if you move to 1:42:15, you will hear what was actually said about what’s floating around.
Next, and you don’t have to skip if you don’t want to because there is only a few seconds between, but at 1:42:57 facts are stated on numbers that you can go verify with the finance dept or at the courthouse yourself. But, since you asked, here’s the cliff notes- 700 # of produce donated to Hands of Mercy, for the year ‘24-25, roughly $629k UNDER budget and projecting near $1mil UNDER budget for ‘25-26. And that was done by thinking outside of the box and using resources they already had. That money stays or goes back into the general fund.
So, use your brain. Don’t believe everything you see on social media. Don’t even believe this if you don’t want to. But go watch it for yourself. Do your research. Make your own informed decisions.
I think you’ll get a better understanding of who is a better fit for these positions.
