Spent about a couple hours this morning hemming the curtains for the cabin and now I have this ridiculous pile of fabric sitting next to my machine that I absolutely cannot throw away, so I’ve decided it’s becoming stockings. I don’t fully know how many yet. However many the pile allows. Which feels like the right way to do it honestly — the same fabric that’s hanging in our windows ending up on somebody’s mantel in December is a little bit my favorite thing. Some will go up on the site and the rest are coming with me to my booth Santa's Shelves.

Things cheap candles do, and why mine don’t.

Tunneling, soot, a candle that smells amazing in the store and like nothing at home. After 15+ years of pouring, I can tell you it’s almost never bad luck. It’s shortcuts.

Mine are soy wax and cotton wicks, with wicks tested for every jar, 6–8% fragrance, and a full two-week cure before they go anywhere. The first ones I ever poured were not amazing. These are the result of small batches, a lot of test burns, and a stack of journals I’d be embarrassed to show you.

Things cheap candles do, and why mine don’t.

Tunneling, soot, a candle that smells amazing in the store and like nothing at home. After 15+ years of pouring, I can tell you it’s almost never bad luck. It’s shortcuts.

Okay, I’m way too excited about these.

Our linen sprays are getting a makeover: amber glass, a little gold, very old-apothecary-shelf. The same scents, just finally dressed the way they smell.

Twelve years ago I did a vintage-inspired shoot with the two loves of my life, my kids. Wasn’t sure round two could compete. However the beauty of gray hair, a husband, and a stepdaughter added to the mix was special in its own way.

This little corner of my nightstand is basically a receipt. A clock that doesn’t tell time, books I’m never going to read, and proof that everything I quietly wanted has been showing up right on schedule.

We drove to the west shore and it rained the entire day, which turns out to be the correct way to tour a 12,000 square foot house. Nobody else was there. Just me, my husband, and a very large empty mansion.

Pine Lodge. Built in 1903 as a summer place — someone looked at this and thought, yes, for July. It stayed in the family until 1965.

I have a covered porch. I do not have a covered porch flanked by two turrets. I’m just saying there’s room to grow.

I saw this vintage coffee bean dispenser in a coffee shop, and now I’ve spent all of my insomniac hours searching the web for one for my home. I’ve found a few, so now I just have to convince my husband that $800 is a good price to pay for possible lead poisoning but an amazing coffee bean dispenser in an unknown place in our kitchen 🤣. Actually, I think I know the perfect place. We’ll just have to get rid of a few things on the wall.
