Today, through my day job, I had the opportunity to attend a job fair and talk with high school students about careers in manufacturing. Honestly, getting the next generation informed and excited about manufacturing might be one of my new favorite things to do.

Not just because it's crucial to the future of our industry, but because I was once that same high school kid who felt lost, overwhelmed, and had absolutely no clue what I wanted to do for a career.

Something that really stood out to me today was how many students I spoke with who had trade school high on their list of plans after graduation. Hearing that genuinely warms my heart.

I came from a generation where college was pushed as the primary path to success. Trades like machining, welding, plumbing, and electrical work didn't always get the recognition they deserved. Too often, the message was that you needed a college degree to build a successful future.

It's great to see that mindset starting to shift.

American manufacturing needs the next generation. We need young minds, hands-on training, fresh ideas, and people willing to learn, build, create, and solve problems. There are so many opportunities in this industry that students simply may not know exist yet.

If I can help even one student realize there's a future for them in manufacturing, share some knowledge, or give them a little direction when they're feeling lost, then today was worth it.

You don't have to have your entire life figured out at 18. Sometimes, all it takes is being introduced to the right opportunity and having someone show you what's possible.

Going on 3 months since launching Tool Protection Services, and I've had the pleasure of dealing with some pretty amazing people along the way.

Being in the manufacturing industry, we all know that sometimes you run into arrogance, stubbornness, and that typical attitude when things go sideways. Over time, that kind of approach can really wear down customer relationships.

One thing I've noticed is that the energy you put out is often the energy you get back.

When you build a business around something genuine, rather than just making money, it’s amazing how much of a difference you can make. Strong communication, honesty, and a willingness to help each other out whenever possible go a long way.

At the end of the day, we're all trying to make a living and keep things moving. There's no reason we can't do that while treating each other right, building trust, and creating relationships that go beyond a simple transaction.

I'm grateful for the people I've connected with so far, and I'm looking forward to building more of these relationships as Tool Protection Services continues to grow.

When I say Tool Protection Services, I mean it. I take protecting your tooling seriously.

So let’s talk about some of the “tools” I’ve helped protect so far:

🔹 CNC Lathe Spindles
By far the most popular, my spindle liner line. Something so simple, yet finding the right liner can be surprisingly difficult. And when you’re constantly replacing damaged liners, that CAPX budget disappears pretty quick.

🔹 Ground Connections
CAT, Capto, ABS, HSK and more. I’ve made protective caps that slip right over the ground connection to protect them from damage during transportation, long-term shelf storage, rust, dust, and everyday handling.

🔹 Custom Shipping Protection
Some parts simply need more protection than a cardboard box and some bubble wrap. I’ve made custom shipping molds designed around the part to keep delicate components protected during transport.

🔹 Tool Organization
Custom trays for endmills, drills, and all kinds of standard machining tooling. Keep your tooling organized, protected, and easy to find.

Turns out when you give people the ability to customize a product, customers really appreciate it.

Since I started printing spindle liners, I’ve been surprised by the number of requests for custom features and modifications. It’s pretty cool seeing a simple spindle liner turn into something specifically designed around what the customer needs.
