🎅❄️ Santa has a special tradition to share with us at Traditional Arts Today!

In Santa’s Christmas Magic Box, children will decorate their own wooden box, then use it to give someone they love a gift they’ve made from the heart. A drawing, a note, a little craft: the box holds the gift, and the kiddo makes the magic. ❤️

🎨The Ferdinand Mural Ribbon Cutting is here! 🤩

Join us as we celebrate the completion of Ferdinand’s new community mural by artist Adam Long and the many people who helped bring it to life.🎉

The festivities begin Saturday, October 10, with the mural dedication at 10 a.m. at Fleig’s Cafe. Then, continue the celebration at Traditional Arts Today with:

🔎 A mural Seek & Find with chances to win exciting prizes
🖌️ An artist talk and demonstration with muralist Adam Long from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
🧶 A fall yarn craft for kids
🍂 Scarecrow Contest voting
☕ Hot cocoa, coffee, and tea samples

The mural celebration takes place during Ferdinand Walktober, so you’ll also find live music, a vendor market, family activities, food and beverages, merchant specials, and more throughout town.🛍️🎉

🎄 You’ve seen Becky Polster’s beautiful crushed glass Christmas trees at Traditional Arts Today… now you can make your own!

Becky’s sparkling Christmas tree pieces have become a favorite in our shop, and this November she’ll be sharing her process in a special Crushed Glass & Resin Trees class!

Create your own one-of-a-kind 8” x 10” Christmas tree on glass, layering crushed glass, beads, charms, and other decorative elements before finishing your piece with resin for that signature sparkle. ✨

And here’s where you can make it especially meaningful: bring along small sentimental treasures such as old jewelry, buttons, charms, or keepsakes to incorporate into your tree. It could become a beautiful way to give something tucked away at home a new life as part of your holiday décor. ❤️💚

🍂✂️ Looking for something creative to do over Fall Break? Join our Teen Art Takeover!

On Saturday, October 24, artist Anna Seifert will lead teens through the wonderfully anything-goes world of Junk Journals! 📚✨

Using a mix of unexpected and repurposed materials like recycled papers, old book covers, scrapbook pieces, tea- and coffee-dyed paper, and more, participants will create a journal that is completely their own. They’ll experiment with layering papers, textures, and embellishments before learning the basics of binding and finishing their journal.

Use it for sketching, writing, photos, keepsakes, lists, memories… whatever you want! There’s no “right” way to make a junk journal, and no two will look alike. 💛

🎃 Calling all scarecrow creators, entry forms are due TODAY!🍂

It’s time to start dreaming up your most creative, clever, colorful, or downright silly scarecrow for Traditional Arts Today’s Scarecrow Decorating Contest!

Businesses, organizations, groups, families, and community members are ALL invited to join the fun. Your scarecrow can be traditional, humorous, contemporary, themed around your organization, or completely one-of-a-kind. We can’t wait to see what you come up with! 🌾

📝 Entry forms due: October 1
📅 Scarecrows installation: October 7
🗳️ Community voting begins: October 10 - October 17
🏆 Winners announced: October 21
🌾 Scarecrow removal and pickup: October 22

Entry is $5 if you provide your own stand or $10 with a premade wooden T-stand, generously donated by Seufert Construction. Proceeds benefit the mission of Traditional Arts Today.

Join Patti Schroeder and Deb Souders for our Disappearing Four-Patch Quilt Block class and discover how a traditional four-patch can be transformed into something much more intricate!

In this intermediate quilting class, you’ll learn how to piece, cut, and rearrange your blocks while experimenting with fabric placement and pattern choices to create a variety of different looks. Patti and Deb will also share clever techniques to make this eye-catching design easier to create than it looks. 🪡😁
