Beware of selling something on Facebook.
Looks like I got duped and someone got a free painting. A person named Samantha George, contacted me from Messenger in a page I am admin for, Butterflies of Northeast Florida, but don't use much, although I have had a feeling someone else has been using my identity on the acct besides me for some time. She sent me a picture of a painting I had done in one of my classes and asked if she could buy it, but she was in another state and could I ship it. Of course it was an easy ship as it was small enough to just slip in a normal sized mailing envelope. I gave her a price of $75 + shipping since it was small, a classroom demo, and unmatted. I told her I would give her a final price after I found out how much shipping was. I asked her to send me her phone number and address, which she did. Art buyers are extremely honest and only once did I have someone pay with credit card at an art show only to find when I ran it through after show it was a bad card. (Days before Square.) So I just trusted her even though a small voice said wait until you get check. As soon as I left the PO, all contact went dead. Phone number was a non working number and all contact stopped working on Messenger. I could no longer send messages. I can't imagine that she would go to so much trouble for a $75 painting. I think the real plan was to get my bank info so she could get into that, but anyway I am out of a painting I liked, and out of a much needed commission. Guess I lost more than a painting, money, but a feeling of being secure when dealing with people buying art.
