Thank you Moana Manuō for letting me accessorize your look for the Moana live action Premiere in LA🤩
Tahitian pearl strands (strands in general) give great dimension to dresses with simple silhouettes, so I opted to layer the strands to give Moana more texture in her attire.
Layers of jewelry have a way of drawing the eyes up and down and I knew that keeping layers short would be too abrupt of a stop on the eyes, so I connected two strands and created an extra long strand to give the final look an elegantly long focal point. I also used it to create balance.
The two pendants were a final touch to create continuity between the short layers and the longer layers and honestly to make it more interesting and unique. I almost didn’t bring the pendants to LA. I was halfway home from picking up supplies at the boutique, but then made a U-turn to grab them bc I had a nagging feeling that I would need them😊. When I got to LA I just started looking at Moana’s insta page and realized she had three kids? She confirmed the next day, and thats when I knew why my gut wanted me to bring them - to add sentimental value to her look! 😎
Jewelry isn’t just about how it looks, it’s also the emotional value they give to the wearer. I don’t wear Tahitian pearls all the time but they hold immense sentimental value to me bc they’re the gems of my mother, her sisters, the gemstone of the Pacific.
So Moana wearing the triple pearl pendant, that represented each of her children, in the center of her overall look, hanging just below the double pearl pendant, felt like it anchored the whole ensemble. Then I found out that sis felt that the top double pearl pendant represented the two Disney Moana premieres she attended and it just made it all the more beautiful. 🥹 The premieres are a testament to her skill and passion in Siva Samoa choreography and I’m glad it was represented in her look for the Blue Carpet!
